Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is widely belive that water access is a basic human right and every home should obtain a water supply without charge. Although water supply is really vital for people daily lives, I disagree with this view because people should use water efficiently.
To begin with, there are numerous reasons why people rely heavily on the water supply such as domestic use, argricultural use and industrial use. However, water usage in industries has becoming increasingly over the period and it leads to the burden on the government. Moreover, water supply is a limited resources and some countries are still facing the shortage of water due to drought and climate change. As a result, government should set the limition for industrial water use for the long term. In addition, providing water supply without charge is unreasonable since government have to allocate the water supply and maintain the water sources such as rivers, and dams.
To tackle this problem, government could take a part by increasing taxtation of water bill. Instead of charging without fees, government should collect water bill based on the units on water usage. Furthermore, people would limit the amount of water use, if they have to pay the costly water bill. For this reason, it can reduce the water supply for unnecessary usage. For example, thai residents, they have to pay a high rate of water bill, thus individuals limit their daily water usage. Therefore, government is able to allocate more water supply for curcial parts such as argriculture.
To conclude, I firmly disagree with this view because goverment plays a vital role for maintaining and allocating water supply. In addition, people should pay the water bill and reduce the unnecessary water usage.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction and conclusion: you disagree because water should be managed carefully and users should contribute to its cost. You address the central issue and give relevant reasons, including pressure on limited supplies, the expense of maintaining sources, and the possibility that charges discourage waste. The example about Thai residents also supports your argument, although it is asserted rather than explained or evidenced. The response meets the lower-band expectation of addressing the task, and its clear stance and relevant support show some stronger development. To make the argument more complete, distinguish access to a basic amount of clean water from charging for excessive or commercial use, and explain how your proposed charges would protect affordability for poorer households.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The first body paragraph explains scarcity and the costs of supply, while the second proposes usage-based charges, so the reader can follow the broad progression. Linking expressions such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “To conclude” help signal stages in the argument. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, with several transitions doing more work than the relationships between ideas. The move from industrial use to government limits, for example, is not fully explained, and “For this reason” and “Therefore” repeat the same consequence. Clarify how each point leads to the next and use pronouns or topic sentences to make references and paragraph focus more precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “water supply,” “shortage,” “drought,” “climate change,” “maintaining,” and “allocating,” which allows you to discuss the issue beyond very basic terms. There are also attempts at more specific expressions such as “industrial water use” and “daily water usage.” However, inaccurate word forms, spelling and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make the phrasing awkward: “belive,” “argricultural,” “limition,” “taxtation,” and “curcial” are examples, while “increasing taxation of water bill” is not a natural expression. This fits a range that is adequate for the topic but not yet consistently controlled. Check spelling carefully and learn common combinations such as “charge for water,” “water consumption,” and “water infrastructure.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a concession in “Although water supply is really vital…” and a conditional idea in “if they have to pay…”. Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “people daily lives” needs a possessive form, “water usage … has becoming” has an incorrect verb form, and “government have to allocate” has a subject–verb agreement problem. The example sentence beginning “For example, thai residents, they…” also has an awkward sentence structure, and the comma before “if” in “water use, if they have to pay” is unnecessary. Work on verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence boundaries while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
