Student answer (Band 5.0)
Access to clean water is a basic human right and I strongly agree to this statement.
Water is a basic necessity for every human being on earth and should be provided free of cost to every home in the world.
First reason is Poverty the water should be provided free of cost to every citizen of the world.
For example in many African countries they don’t have enough clean water supply, the entire countries population are drinking dirty water. And because of that they are usually sick and weak .
The contaminated water contains several bacteria , fungus etc.
If African countries residents have access to the clean water in their homes. That’s gonna save a lot of lives.
The Second reason why clean water is not delivered to every home is because of Politics, usually there is a process to subsidise any resource for the country’s citizens in National Assembly.
Usually the policymakers don’t agree with each other that this resource should be given free of cost to citizens. Only reason is that they want to do these type of tactics to eliminate their opponent or damage their image in front of citizens And they want to implement these policies in their own tenure. And again in their tenure this same cycle will repeat.
Because of politics the citizens of the country are suffering from the clean water in their entire life span. The one with the wealth and buy easily but for the poor it is very much difficult to survive.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
Your position is clear: you strongly support free household access to clean water, and you give relevant reasons involving poverty, illness and political decision-making. The example of people drinking contaminated water helps show why access matters. However, the response addresses the task only partially because the reasons are asserted more than developed: the discussion of political tactics is lengthy but does not clearly explain how free provision would be funded or delivered. The conclusion is also missing, and the response is 244 words, six words below the 250-word minimum; the nine words copied from the prompt are not counted. Develop the practical implications of your position and finish by restating your view.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic structure, moving from your position to two reasons, and phrases such as “For example” and “The Second reason” signal the intended sequence. However, progression is not consistently clear: the paragraph about politics shifts into policymakers’ motives and election tactics without linking these points clearly to the proposal that every home receive free water. Several ideas are placed in separate short paragraphs, while the final point about wealthy and poor people is left without a clear concluding link. Repeated use of “usually” and “Because of politics” also makes cohesion repetitive. Group each reason into a focused paragraph, use clearer cause-and-effect links, and add a brief conclusion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “clean water,” “contaminated water,” “bacteria,” “subsidise” and “policymakers,” so the reader can follow the main subject. However, the range is limited and some expressions are imprecise or repetitive, such as “free of cost” and “this resource.” Phrases like “the entire countries population” and “suffering from the clean water” are difficult to interpret because the word combinations are not natural. The informal “That’s gonna” is also unsuitable for an academic essay. Aim for more precise collocations and a consistently formal register, for example, “provide water free of charge,” “the country’s population,” and “lack access to clean water.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You communicate your main position using mostly straightforward sentence patterns, and you attempt longer structures when explaining causes and consequences. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to process. For example, “the entire countries population are drinking” has problems with possessive form and subject–verb agreement, while “If African countries residents have access” lacks a clear grammatical structure. The long sentence beginning “Usually the policymakers don’t agree” also joins several ideas without effective sentence boundaries. Practise accurate plural and possessive forms, agreement, and controlled complex sentences. Breaking long sentences into shorter units and checking punctuation will make your reasoning easier to follow.
