Student answer (Band 5.5)

Water is a basic human need. It's is the essential human right to access clean water, to make this approach easier it is essential to provide free of cost water for all individual of society. In this essay I will support this opinion with examples, and draw a conclusion as well.

The primary reason for my opinion in that the people who can not afford to access clean water they will benefitied with pure water. As the people who do not have much resources to earn their livelihood, they would not buy water, resultantly they got several diseases due to the insufficiency of purified water.

Another key argument is that if every entity use clean water, they can use their budget in another task which will be more beneficial for them. Cost-free water will enables them to grow rapidly, so that they will take part in the economy of their country. It is the core responsibilty of government to have the equal excess of clean water to all.

On the other hand, if water supply free to all, it would be economically more burden on state, as well as cost-free water, people will become extravagent in the use of clean water.

All things considered, it must be essential to provide free water supply to all. So that every individual of society enjoy the clean water, as well as the down-trodden sector of the society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You take a clear position in favour of free household water and give relevant reasons: it would help people who cannot afford clean water and allow households to spend money elsewhere. You also acknowledge a counterargument about the cost to the state and possible waste. However, these points are only briefly explained, and the response does not fully develop how governments could address the cost or why free provision is preferable to other ways of ensuring access. The conclusion repeats your position rather than drawing together the argument. The response is 16 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop your ideas. Add specific explanation or an example to support each main point and address the opposing view more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two supporting paragraphs, a counterargument and a conclusion. Paragraphs generally focus on one main point, and signposts such as “Another key argument” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear. For example, the link between free water, household budgets and participation in the national economy is asserted rather than explained. The opening sentence also combines several ideas in a way that makes the argument difficult to follow. Some linking phrases feel formulaic, and the final paragraph begins with “So that” as a fragment. Use clearer links between claims and explanations, and make each paragraph develop its point step by step.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “clean water,” “purified water,” “water supply,” and “economy,” and you attempt more formal expressions such as “core responsibility” and “down-trodden sector.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or awkward, which makes some ideas less clear. For instance, “benefitied with pure water” and “equal excess of clean water” do not express the intended meaning naturally; “extravagent” is also misspelled. Several phrases repeat the idea of free water without adding precision. Build a more reliable range of topic-specific expressions and check how words combine: for example, use “access to clean water,” “afford clean water,” and “use water wastefully.” Accurate, natural phrasing will make your argument more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional idea in “if water supply free to all” and a reason clause beginning “As the people who…”. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to process. Examples include “It's is the essential human right,” “the primary reason for my opinion in that,” and “if every entity use clean water.” The final sentence beginning “So that” is incomplete, while several clauses are joined with commas where a full stop or conjunction is needed. Practise forming complete sentences with accurate subjects and verbs, and check agreement, articles and clause boundaries. Shorter, correctly controlled sentences would improve clarity before you add more complex forms.
