Student answer (Band 5.5)
Water is an essential resource for basic human needs . some people believe that drinking water should be free to everyone, I strongly agree with this people should get clean water for free of charge . So, we can prevent health disease .
Access to clean drinking water should be free of cost and other water used should be charged properly . Access to clean water for free provide more relief to poor people , Who can not afford expensive one , Otherwise they forced to use unsafe water because of that they may get serious health disease. Government should take action for supply clean drinking water for free ,and other purpose water should chargeable . So , people try to conserve water and value limited resources.
In daily life people used to use water for so many things like cleaning their cars , gardening , cleaning homes , carpet and personal use . When people get drinking water for free and other use water chargeable they will aware of how to use limited water resource. water is limited resource, thus sometime create shortage for it, there is particularly in areas where experience droughts. for example , in India some parts have shortage of water in summer . Charge on extra other used water prevent this shortage problem.
in conclusion , clean water supple for free is basic human right . It is helpful to poor people . However , extra use of water should be in control so we can save water for future life and can prevent shortage of water in future .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you agree that drinking water should be free, while water for other uses should be charged. You address the main issue and give relevant reasons, including helping poorer households and conserving supplies; the example of water shortages in parts of India also supports your argument. However, the response partly narrows the prompt to drinking water, whereas the question concerns a water supply for every home, so clarify whether your proposal covers all essential household water. Some points, such as how charges would prevent shortages, are asserted rather than explained, and the health consequences for people using unsafe water could be developed further. More precise explanation and support would make the argument more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress from affordability, to everyday water use and conservation, and then to a summary of your position. Linking expressions such as “Otherwise,” “for example” and “In conclusion” help signal relationships between points. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear, particularly “So, we can prevent health disease” and the transition from free drinking water to charges for other uses. Several sentences repeat the same claim about charging for extra water without adding a distinct step to the argument. Use clearer references and develop each paragraph around one main point, with an explicit explanation of how the example supports it.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “basic human right,” “unsafe water,” “conserve water,” “limited resources” and “droughts.” These choices make your main ideas understandable, and you attempt some topic-specific phrasing. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, as in “health disease,” “free of cost,” “extra other used water” and “water supple.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. There is also repeated reliance on “water,” “free” and “shortage.” Build a more precise range of expressions for affordability, household consumption and water scarcity, and check spelling and word forms. More natural collocations would improve clarity without changing your argument.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional idea in “When people get drinking water for free and other use water chargeable…” and a reason-result relationship with “because of that.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but grammatical control is uneven. Errors include sentence boundaries and capitalization (“some people believe…” after the opening sentence; “water is limited resource” after a full stop), missing or incorrect articles (“a limited resource”), and verb forms or agreement (“people used to use,” “they will aware”). Some clauses are incomplete or awkwardly joined, such as “there is particularly in areas where experience droughts.” Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles, verb forms and punctuation when editing.
