Student answer (Band 5.5)
A contentious issue in modern society is accessing clean water, which is not only a basic human need but must also be provided free of cost. I strongly concur with this assertion because clean water is fundamental for healthy life style and also its access to all is essential because its a basic life need.
Firstly, Clean water as an essential for health because nowadays clean water is not generally available. People are suffering because of that our pounds and lakes are poluted from different polutants like microplastics, dirt and contaminents. Even underground water is also not safe to drink it has been contaminated because of excessive use of fertilizers, and unmanaged sewerage system. Environmental change can also be the reason because in many areas water level is very low that people have to drink contaminated water from ponds. As a result a variety of diseases are spreading like diarrhea, hepatitus, and other stomach issues which leads to wider problems and in certain cases even death. So viewing all the problems above clean water is the basic human nesesity.
Equally significant is the fact is clean water must be make available to all free of cost. Because people in the world are suffering from a lot of issues which includes hunger, place to live, disease management etc. So governments and other world organizations must have to play their role to make clean water available for all. For example when we see the conditions of people in somalia, africa, india, pakistan and other third world countries these are the people who suffers to afford food and manage their livelihood so buying water for everyday drinking is inevitable for them.
To conclude governments all over the world must take necessory steps to make clean water available for all free of cost as it is basic life need.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: you strongly support free access to clean water, and the conclusion restates this view. You give relevant reasons, especially the health risks of contaminated water, and mention diseases such as diarrhoea and hepatitis. You also address affordability, using examples of people in several countries who may struggle to pay. However, the two main points are not developed equally: the health argument includes several causes and consequences, while the affordability point is asserted more generally, without explaining how free provision could be funded or organised. The country examples are also broad rather than specific. Develop this second argument with a concrete example and explain more directly why the human-rights principle requires a free household supply.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs introduced by “Firstly” and “Equally significant,” and a concluding paragraph. The ideas within the first body paragraph generally move from pollution to unsafe water and then to disease, which helps the reader follow the health argument. However, some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, “So viewing all the problems above” is an awkward transition, and the second body paragraph begins with a sentence fragment: “Because people in the world are suffering…” The repeated use of “So” also makes connections feel basic. Improve progression by making each paragraph’s main claim explicit, linking evidence to that claim, and using complete sentences rather than relying on formulaic connectors.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “microplastics,” “contaminated,” “fertilizers,” and “sewerage system,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “contentious issue” and “fundamental.” However, word choice and spelling errors are noticeable and sometimes make the writing less precise: “poluted,” “polutants,” “contaminents,” “nesesity,” and “necessory” are misspelled, while “buying water for everyday drinking is inevitable” does not clearly express the intended idea. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “healthy life style” and “basic life need.” Aim for accurate spelling and natural collocations, and choose precise terms—for example, explain that households may be unable to afford drinking water rather than calling its purchase “inevitable.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a cause-and-effect structure in “As a result a variety of diseases are spreading…” and a relative clause in “which leads to wider problems.” However, control is inconsistent, and several sentence patterns are faulty. Examples include “Clean water as an essential for health,” which lacks a complete verb, and “clean water must be make available,” where the passive verb form is incorrect. The sentence beginning “Because people in the world…” is also a fragment, while “the fact is clean water must…” has an incomplete construction. There are further issues with articles, agreement, and punctuation, such as “a healthy life style” and the comma after “fertilizers.” Practise building complete clauses and checking verb forms, agreement, and sentence boundaries.
