Student answer (Band 5.5)

Water is a basic humman necessity and every human have a right to drink clean water. Therefore this is the authority of government to install free water supply in houses all over the country.

Water is a basic human need which can be accessed through any Supermarket, general stores or even stalls on roads.Water is used to perform many diffrent activities such as could be used for drinking but it should be cleaned and purified. Therefore it is used in many other activities such as washing clothes, washing cutlery, providing water to your garden etc.Nowadays water prices are increasing massively.water is a free natural resource but nowadays people are using it to generate money.Government should focus upon this issue and atleast provide a free water supply in every house and could set limits of it.Therefore it could be only 100litres of water could be consumed in a day or free water would be avaliable 2 or 3 hours a day many posibilities could be generated.

Moreover goverment could charge extra charges if exceeding the water limit but government should be providing free water to the houses by implementing it people would be satisfied and loyal with the goverment and in next elections they will be voting for this goverment who implemented free water supplies also people from abroad will be intreasted in living a country where free water supply is provided more restaurant will be opened as their water cost would be eliminated which will boost the economy standard of living will be increased because of which gdp would be increased.

In conclusion governemt should be focusing on implementing free water supply in every house, flat, restaurant which will provide benefits to the government people would be happyy, standard of living would be increased,Therefore it is the human right of having a free natural resource free of cost.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that households should receive free water, and you address the government’s role in providing it. Relevant supporting points include setting a daily limit, charging for excess use, and possible benefits to households and businesses. However, these ideas are not developed evenly. The proposed 100-litre allowance is specific, but you do not explain why this amount is appropriate or how it would work in practice. Claims that free water would attract people from abroad, increase restaurant openings and raise GDP are asserted rather than supported. To strengthen the response, explain the reasoning behind your main points and consider the costs or conservation concerns involved in providing water free of charge.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure, moving from your position to supporting points and then a conclusion. Paragraphing helps separate the main stages of the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because several different claims are joined together, particularly in the long paragraph about government charges, elections, overseas residents, restaurants and GDP. Linking words such as “Therefore” and “Moreover” are repeated and do not always show the precise relationship between ideas. Some references, such as “it” in the discussion of limits, are unclear. Group related points into shorter, focused paragraphs and use transitions that explain whether you are adding a reason, giving an example or showing a result.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “free water supply,” “natural resource,” “water limit” and “standard of living,” so the main message is generally understandable. There are also attempts to express more specific ideas, such as “implementing” a supply and “exceeding the water limit.” However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations are awkward, including “the authority of government,” “water prices are increasing massively” and “economy standard of living.” Spelling errors such as “humman,” “diffrent,” “avaliable” and “goverment” are noticeable and reduce accuracy. Build a bank of topic-specific phrases and check spelling and natural word combinations when proofreading.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with reasons and results, for example, the sentence beginning “Moreover goverment could charge extra charges…” This shows an effort to connect ideas, but longer structures are often difficult to control, and sentence boundaries are frequently unclear. There are errors in agreement and verb forms, as in “every human have a right” and “it could be only 100litres of water could be consumed.” Articles and plurals also need attention, while missing spaces after full stops and commas make sentences harder to read. Practise building complex sentences around one clear main clause, then check subject–verb agreement, articles and punctuation.
