Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's world clean drinking water is mandatory for everyone its basic human right. Moreover, some argued that water supply should provided free of cost. I largely agree this view because every household should receive enough clean water to meet basic needs for free, but people could pay for excessive water use.

People need clean water for drinking, cooking, washing, and maintaining personal hygiene. nobody should have to go without these basic necessities because they cannot afford the bill. Moreover, clean drinking water is necessarily because its widely use in daily routine people drink clean water they face less diseases in rural area people have not access to drink clean water. A low-income family may struggle to pay its water bills. Providing a basic amount of free water would help the family maintain good hygiene and prepare meals safely. Furthermore, Free clean water can protect public health. Access to safe water helps people maintain hygiene and reduce exposure to water-related diseases when the water supply is properly treated.

Providing water is expensive. Governments must pay for water treatment, pipelines, repairs, and regular maintenance. Free water supply to every household can put pressure on public budgets. Government should make policy to charge water bill to big household to collect tax and spend on needy people. For instance, Local governments may have less money available to repair leaking pipes if it has to cover all water-related costs. Furthermore, when households do not pay for any of the water use, some may be less careful about consumption. As a result, people should use less water to maintain proper supply to every household.

In conclusion, I believe that clean drinking water should be free because its a basic essential for everyone. However, household should pay for excessive water. clean drinking water is necessary to prevent disease and enjoy good health.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear throughout: you agree that households should receive enough water for basic needs without charge, while accepting payment for excessive use. You address both the human-rights argument and practical concerns, including public health, treatment costs, infrastructure, and waste. The examples of a low-income family and leaking pipes help make the discussion relevant. This is a well-focused response with ideas generally extended and supported. To strengthen it further, develop the proposed policy of charging larger households more precisely: explain how this would protect basic access while funding the system, rather than briefly mentioning tax and support for needy people. Some claims, such as the link between free water and careless consumption, would also benefit from a more specific explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your position, two body paragraphs present the main arguments, and the conclusion restates your view. The progression from household needs to the cost and management of supply is logical, and connectors such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” and “As a result” help signal relationships. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent overall arrangement and shows some features of stronger progression. However, cohesion is occasionally mechanical, with several connectors clustered together, and some ideas run into one another—for example, the discussion of rural access and disease in the first body paragraph. Use clearer sentence boundaries and make each paragraph’s central point more distinct. Consistent capitalization after full stops would also improve the presentation.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “basic necessities,” “water treatment,” “pipelines,” “public budgets,” and “water-related diseases.” These terms allow you to discuss both access and infrastructure, and meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “maintain good hygiene” and “exposure to water-related diseases.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward: “mandatory for everyone,” “free of cost,” “necessarily,” and “widely use in daily routine” do not sound natural in context. Spelling and word-form control also need attention, as in “its” for “it’s” and “diseases” where a singular form may be intended. Aim for precise, natural collocations rather than adding complexity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a concession in “I largely agree … but people could pay” and a conditional clause beginning “if households do not pay.” These structures help express contrast and cause and effect. However, errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. Examples include missing verbs or auxiliaries in “water supply should provided,” the run-on sequence beginning “Moreover, clean drinking water is necessarily,” and agreement or article problems in “household should pay” and “if it has to cover.” Capitalization and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly at sentence beginnings. Practise building accurate sentences around one main clause, then add subordinate clauses only when their grammar is secure.
