Student answer (Band 5.5)

As water is essential for human beings, it should be freely supplied to every home. Moreover, recieving purified water is a basic human right. I personally agree with the development, and this essay will analyse both favours and critisms.

One among the main reasons to agree this trend is that, people living in slum areas might not have access to clean water, this will have a negative impact on their life, as they may consume many microorganisms when they drink tap water, which makes them unhealthy. Furthermore, plenty of water available in the world is saline. In order to make it favaourable for drinking it needs purification. Which needs proper machines which are far from reach of poor people. For instant, althought people near glaciers in Kashmir has plenty of water but not suitable to drink. They should getfree clean water as its their fundamental human right.

On the other hand, if water is supplied freely than this might increase exploitation of resources. People usually do not value when they get it easily, which too goes with the water. as a result reuse of water might be reduced. Moreover, supply of clean water for free may increase economical burden on government, as the process of purification is quite costlier. Firslty, they need to setup industries than hire workers after which they can start the process. This may increase workload. For example, in Telangana, government started initiative to supply free water, but facing an increased financial burden as they are plenty of people to consume water on regular basics. They may think to shutdown the scheme in upcoming days.

In my opinion, i claim that government should take futher steps to supply free clean water to each and every house as its the basic human right to get water.

In conclusion, though water it is essential for peoples healthy life and wellbeing, it increases burden on goverment bodies and exploit resources in some way. In my view this trend should be popularised as it is advantages to many people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that clean water should be supplied to every home, and you address both the benefits and the concerns. The discussion of poor communities’ access to purification and the government’s financial burden is relevant, while the Kashmir and Telangana examples help make the points more concrete. However, some ideas are not fully explained. For instance, the claim that free supply reduces water reuse needs a clearer link to how charging would encourage conservation, and the Telangana example is asserted without enough detail to show the scheme’s effects. Develop each main point with a more explicit explanation and support, and make the conclusion’s final judgement more decisive and consistent with your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for supporting and opposing arguments, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the other hand,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the overall direction. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The first body paragraph contains a long sentence joining several claims with commas, and “Which needs proper machines” is left as a fragment, interrupting the progression. The conclusion also repeats the contrast without clearly resolving it. Use clearer sentence boundaries, connect each example directly to the point it supports, and make references such as “this trend” and “it” more precise to strengthen cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “purification,” “saline,” “fundamental human right,” and “financial burden,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There is also some attempt to use less common language, but inaccurate word choice, collocation, and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “agree this trend,” “favaourable for drinking,” “economical burden,” and “on regular basics.” “Critisms” and “recieving” also show spelling control needs attention. Aim for natural combinations such as “agree with this policy,” “suitable for drinking,” and “economic burden.” Proofread spelling and word forms, and choose precise vocabulary rather than forcing formal-sounding expressions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses with “as,” “which,” and “although,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, some sentence structures are faulty, particularly where clauses are joined without correct punctuation or a complete grammatical structure. For example, “Which needs proper machines” is a fragment, while “people living in slum areas might not have access to clean water, this will have a negative impact” joins two independent clauses with a comma. There are also errors in agreement and sentence construction, as in “people near glaciers in Kashmir has” and “if water is supplied freely than.” Review clause boundaries, subject–verb agreement, articles, and capitalization, then check each sentence for a complete subject and verb.
