Student answer (Band 5.5)
One of the basic needs that people should have acess with is to have clean water. Some people believe that every household should have a water supply that is provided free of charge, while some people think that individuals should pay for it. In my opinion, since taxpayers pay the tax respectively, the government should allot a budget for that.
One major reason is that people who work pay the tax. The government should use the money to allocate an adequate budget so that people will have an access to clean water. For instance, the officials could make a budget for clean water, infrastructure, public transportation and more. If there will be a wise management in using the tax, there will be a lot of things they could do that people will benefit with. As a result, there is no need for people to pay extra to have access to clean water.
On the other hand, many of the corrupt government officials will add burdens to its nation. For example, instead of using the money to help the people with the basic needs, they use the money for their personal matter. This results to the downside of the country. Moreover, as the constitution proclaimed that people have the rights to acces basic needs, the officials should provide it to the people.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that people must have acces to clean water for free and no charge at all. People, on the other hand, must aware on how to use the water properly such as to avoid wasting the water and use it appropriately.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you support free household access to clean water, and you address the opposing concern by noting that officials may misuse public funds. The discussion is relevant, and the examples about tax-funded infrastructure and corruption help explain your view. However, some points are asserted rather than fully developed. For instance, you say taxpayers’ money should fund water, but do not explain how this could ensure a reliable supply or whether all water use should be free. The corruption point also needs a clearer link to your proposed solution. Develop these ideas with specific reasoning or an example, and clarify the scope of “free” provision to make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting reasons and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “For instance,” “As a result,” and “On the other hand” help signal relationships between ideas. However, progression is sometimes mechanical, and the second body paragraph’s shift to corruption is not fully connected to the argument that water should be free. Some references are also unclear, such as “its nation” and “This results to the downside of the country,” which make the connection between sentences harder to follow. Use clearer referencing and explain how each paragraph supports your position; vary transitions rather than relying mainly on formulaic connectors.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “taxpayers,” “infrastructure,” “corrupt government officials,” and “basic needs,” so the main ideas are understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “have acess with,” “allot a budget,” “personal matter,” and “results to the downside.” Spelling errors such as “acess” and “acces” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your overall position, but they make the expression less natural and sometimes require extra effort. Build a more precise range for discussing public services, funding, and water provision, and check spelling and common word partnerships.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “If there will be a wise management…” and a subordinate clause beginning “so that.” The overall meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “people will have an access” uses an unnecessary article, while “many of the corrupt government officials will add burdens to its nation” has an unclear pronoun reference and agreement problem. “People… must aware” is missing the verb “be,” and “as the constitution proclaimed” uses an unsuitable tense. Work on articles, verb forms, agreement, and sentence patterns, then proofread each sentence to improve accuracy while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
