Student answer (Band 5.0)
YesI agreed that access to clean water is basic human right. Today world almost half of population were don't have facilities for clean water. For examples: in Africa most of people drinks unhygienic water which is very harmful for their life. Their is no proper filtration system in country. Government should provides atleast one filtration plant in one society.
High authority should provides clean water supply to every home free of cost.
• Basic Survival & Dignity: Water is essential for drinking, cooking, and hygiene; lacking it leads to waterborne illnesses like cholera and typhoid.
• Social Equality: Charging high rates can place a heavy financial burden on low-income families, cutting them off from a vital resource.
• Public Health: Universal access reduces community disease risks and improves overall public well-being.
Water
• Infrastructure Costs: Treating water, laying pipelines, maintaining pumps, and paying utility staff require substantial government funding.
• Risk of Wastage: When water is entirely free with no caps or pricing, people may overconsume or waste it on non-essential tasks.
• Resource Management: Tiered pricing or targeted subsidies (such as providing a free basic daily quota per person and charging for excess usage) help balance conservation with affordability.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You take a broadly supportive position, stating that clean water should be supplied to every home free of charge, and you give relevant reasons such as survival, public health and affordability. The examples of waterborne illnesses and the proposed free basic quota also show awareness of practical considerations. However, the response only partially develops the task: the bullet-point notes are not explained or connected into a sustained argument, and the discussion of infrastructure costs and waste is not clearly reconciled with your position. The opening example about Africa is also general rather than specific. The response is 51 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to explain and support your ideas. Develop each main reason with explanation and a relevant example, and state clearly how you would address the costs.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic sequence from your position to reasons supporting free access and then to possible disadvantages and a compromise. The headings, including “Basic Survival & Dignity” and “Infrastructure Costs,” help readers identify the topics. However, the response does not yet form a clear essay progression: ideas are presented as fragments and bullet points rather than developed paragraphs, and the isolated heading “Water” interrupts the flow. Connections between points are limited, so the reader is left to infer how the arguments relate to your final position. Use an introduction, separate body paragraphs and a conclusion, with linking phrases that show contrast and cause, such as “However” and “As a result.” Refer back to your position when discussing pricing.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “filtration system,” “waterborne illnesses,” “financial burden,” “tiered pricing” and “targeted subsidies.” These terms show an attempt to discuss both public-health benefits and resource management, and the meaning is generally understandable. However, the range is uneven: some phrases are repeated or imprecise, such as “clean water supply,” “free of cost” and “high authority.” There are also noticeable word-choice and form errors in phrases such as “most of people drinks” and “one filtration plant in one society,” which make parts of the opening less natural. Build a wider set of accurate collocations for government provision, water treatment and household consumption, and check word forms and spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and more developed structures, including the conditional idea “When water is entirely free … people may overconsume” and the relative clause “which is very harmful for their life.” These attempts help communicate several relevant points. However, the range is limited overall, and frequent errors in basic sentence construction and agreement sometimes make the opening difficult to follow. For example, “Today world almost half of population were don't have facilities” combines incompatible verb forms, while “Government should provides” has incorrect agreement after a modal. Articles and plural forms are also often missing or inconsistent. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses, checking tense, agreement and articles in each sentence.
