Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is widely acknowledged that clean water is a basic human right has now become an increasingly contantenous issue in contemporary society. While, some proponents assert that water supply that is provided must be free of cost as it is essential for life. I firmly contend that government must charging for water supply. This essay will critically examine the issue before reaching the balanced conclusion.
To commence with one compelling justification for chargeing for water supply is that infrastructure and maintenance must require financial investment. This is largely attributes to high cost of purification plants, pipline, distribution system that government must manage.
As a result, it is reasonable to assert that if water is free than government must face financial issues and system would collapse which ultimately fosters negative outcomes.
Another pivotal consideration is that if water provide free of cost then this cause the wastage and unfair use of water. A pertinent example is that wealthy households with swimming pools and large gardens must use ten times more water than poor family, while in countries where water is metered like in Uk people use water carefully which clearly underscore the potential impact of this trend.
To recapitulate, although differing viewpoints persist the prepondarance of evidence supports the view that government must charge for water supply to avoid the wastage and balanced the financial budgets that is require for water purification because purification of water is most important part of daily life and humans health. Therefore, adopting this approach appear both pragmetic and beneficial in long run.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you disagree that household water should be free and argue that governments should charge to fund infrastructure and discourage waste. Both reasons are relevant, and the examples of purification systems and households with pools help address the question. However, the support is uneven: the infrastructure point is asserted rather than illustrated with a specific consequence or example, and the UK metering comparison is brief and does not establish how charging ensures fair access. The conclusion restates your position but adds little development. To strengthen the response, explain how charges could be balanced with the right to basic water—for example, through a free essential allowance and fees for higher use—and develop each example more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas generally progress from funding needs to preventing waste. Paragraphs each have a clear central purpose. Some linking is mechanical, however: phrases such as “To commence with,” “Another pivotal consideration,” and “To recapitulate” announce stages rather than showing the precise relationship between ideas. A few connections are also unclear, particularly “if water is free than government must face financial issues,” where the cause-and-effect link needs more explanation. The final sentence adds several points at once, making the ending less focused. Use fewer formulaic transitions and connect claims, explanations and examples more explicitly within each paragraph.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “infrastructure,” “maintenance,” “purification plants,” “distribution system,” and “metered.” These choices help communicate the main arguments, and attempts such as “pertinent example” and “preponderance of evidence” show ambition. However, several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “contantenous,” “chargeing,” “pipline,” “prepondarance,” and “pragmetic.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “balanced the financial budgets” and “fosters negative outcomes.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations rather than adding formal-sounding phrases. Proofread spelling and word forms, and choose expressions that state the intended meaning directly, such as “maintain a balanced budget” or “lead to system failures.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional clauses (“if water is free…”) and a concession in the conclusion (“although differing viewpoints persist”). The main argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect control. For example, “I firmly contend that government must charging” uses an incorrect verb form, while “if water provide free of cost then this cause” has missing or incorrect verb forms. Agreement and sentence construction are also problematic in “purification of water is most important part … and humans health.” Review modal verb patterns, subject–verb agreement, articles and complete clause structure. More accurate versions of these sentences would make your reasoning easier to follow while preserving the range of structures you are attempting.
