Student answer (Band 5.5)
Access to clean drinking water is a fundamental human right, and some people argue that every household should recieve a water supply free of cost. I strongly agree with the statement that clean water is a basic necessity of life and it should be accesible to everyone without paying surplus charges, as most of the communities that are low income would not then be able to pay and this would result in poor hygeine and health of those people. Unhealthy drinking water is the major cause of people getting sick, but on the other hand overconsumption of water should be charged.
One of the main reason of free clean water being acccessible to everyone is that, it is a basic right and people need it for their better hygiene and health. Everyone needs clean water for drinking, cleaning, cooking, and in maintaining their hygeine. It the people are not getting clean water, this can lead to dehydration and other water-borne diseases. For Instance, in low income families if it is not free of charge , they would try to same water to reduce their bill and this would lead them to being sick.
The other reason is that it also os a tool for the commnity, that they are being treated equally and with justice. If each households gets the water without charge, this would reduce the financial burden of the household. Prioviding basic supply ensures that everyone is getting water to meet their essential needs regardless of their income. Eg the family would have less stress as compared to the stress that they would have if water would also be added to one of their bills.
In Conclussion, I would say that the overconsumption of water is still a problem that we are facing but it does not outweight the advantages of free water supply to every household.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: you strongly agree that essential household water should be free, while noting that excessive use could be charged. You give relevant reasons about health, hygiene, fairness and financial pressure, and the conclusion returns to your main view. This addresses the task, but some points are asserted more than explained. For example, the claim that free provision promotes equal treatment would be stronger if you explained how a guaranteed basic allowance could protect low-income households while discouraging waste. The example about families saving water is relevant, but its consequences could be made more specific. Develop each reason with a clear explanation or concrete example, and clarify how your proposal would distinguish essential use from overconsumption. This would make the argument more fully supported and balanced in its treatment of the issue.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “One of the main reason” and “The other reason” help signal the progression, and the final paragraph reconnects to the issue of overconsumption. However, some links feel mechanical, and the first paragraph contains several ideas—affordability, health and charging for excess use—without clearly showing how they relate. The example in the second body paragraph also follows the point rather abruptly. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example explicitly to the claim it supports. More precise referencing and transitions between related ideas would make the progression smoother and reduce the sense of a list of points.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “fundamental human right,” “water-borne diseases,” “financial burden” and “essential needs,” which helps communicate the argument. There is also some attempt to express distinctions, particularly between basic supply and “overconsumption.” However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural phrasing are noticeable, for example “recieve,” “accesible,” “hygeine,” and “try to same water.” Some expressions are also awkward, such as “a tool for the commnity” and “without paying surplus charges.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, but they reduce precision and control. Check spelling carefully and choose more natural collocations, such as “conserve water” and “additional charges,” to make the vocabulary more accurate and fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional explanation beginning “if it is not free of charge” and a contrast introduced by “but on the other hand.” The overall meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “One of the main reason … is” has a number-agreement problem, and “It the people are not getting clean water” appears to be an incorrectly formed conditional clause. The sentence beginning “as most of the communities…” is also overloaded, making the relationship between its ideas difficult to follow. Work on agreement, complete clause structures and sentence boundaries, and divide long sentences when they contain several claims. More consistently controlled complex sentences would improve clarity while retaining variety.
