Student answer (Band 6.0)
One of the very few things that a human needs to survive is water. Availability of clean water is a must for every single being,Thats why every house should be given proper means for water availability free of cost.I totally agree with this statement and this report will state the reasons for it.
Firstly,Water is provided to living beings by the environment,it is not someone's personal creation. It is not needed just by humans but by every single living thing on this planet to survive so we should be more thoughtful while using it and not waste it.Therefore,it should be given to everyone just like basic rights are given.
Furthermore, almost 80% of the chores in our daily lives require the consumption of water, from brushing your teeth to washing your face to taking a shower ,All these daily acts require water. That is why it is a necessity in our lives and it should'nt be something one has to pay for to access.Government should be more thoughtful about their civilians and should provide them with the basic human right such as water.
However, people who do not have access to clean water due to affordability issues suffer alot.A prime example would be Africa,A vast number of population in africa is really poor and they cannot afford basic necessities of life hence clean water, Which has caused them to suffer from so many deadly diseases even causing a wordly pademic. This would'nt have happened if they had access to clean water.
In the end,i would like to state that this is not just a need but a necessity and the responsibility to provide it to everyone lies on all of us.By creating means of accessibility and affordability for the ones that cannot afford it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: “I totally agree,” and the response stays focused on whether water should be freely available. You give relevant reasons, including water’s importance to life, its role in daily activities, and the hardship caused when people cannot afford clean water. The example of disease in parts of Africa supports your argument, although it is broad and would be more convincing with a specific, carefully explained example. Some reasoning is also under-developed: saying water comes from the environment does not by itself explain why household supply should be free, and the conclusion introduces shared responsibility without clarifying how this would work. The response addresses the task, but not all ideas are equally developed or precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate supporting paragraphs, a counterpoint introduced by “However,” and a concluding statement. The progression from water as essential to its everyday uses and then to affordability is generally understandable. Linking expressions such as “Firstly,” “Furthermore,” and “That is why” help signal relationships between ideas. However, some connections feel mechanical, and several sentences run together, making the progression harder to follow—for example, the long sentence beginning “Furthermore, almost 80% of the chores…” combines several points without clear boundaries. The final sentence, “By creating means…,” is a fragment and does not connect smoothly to the preceding conclusion. Clearer sentence boundaries and more explicit links between claims and evidence would strengthen cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “basic human right,” “affordability issues,” “necessity,” and “deadly diseases.” These choices make your main argument understandable, and there is some attempt to vary wording around access and need. However, the range and control are limited by repeated general terms such as “water,” “basic,” and “necessity,” as well as imprecise or unnatural expressions. For example, “proper means for water availability” and “a vast number of population” do not express the intended ideas naturally; “wordly pademic” also contains spelling errors that may distract the reader. Aim for precise collocations such as “reliable access to safe drinking water” and check spelling carefully. More accurate topic-specific vocabulary would make the argument clearer and more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including the explanation beginning “A prime example would be Africa…” and the sentence describing daily activities. The main meaning is usually recoverable, but control is uneven: several sentences contain multiple clauses joined without appropriate punctuation, such as the opening paragraph’s “Thats why…” and the long sentence beginning “Furthermore.” There are also errors in sentence boundaries and clause construction; the final “By creating means…” is incomplete. Capitalisation and apostrophes are inconsistent, as in “i,” “Thats,” and “should'nt.” These issues sometimes make the reader pause, even though the overall argument remains understandable. Practise building accurate complex sentences and proofreading punctuation, apostrophes, and sentence completeness.
