Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response recognises that clean water matters for health and daily life, and it gives examples such as drinking water and preventing illness. However, it does not directly answer the central question: whether every home should receive its water supply free of charge. The discussion shifts between water use, bottled water, government provision and health benefits, without establishing a clear position on free household supply or explaining the costs and practical implications. The final opinion that people use unsafe water is not a clear answer to whether water should be free. To strengthen the response, state agreement or disagreement in the introduction, then develop relevant reasons and examples that directly support that position. The ideas presented are limited and mostly asserted rather than explained.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.0
There is a recognisable attempt to move from the importance of water to its health benefits and then to a concluding opinion. Some examples, such as kidney stones and household use, give the reader a sense of the topic. However, the response is presented as one continuous block, so the main points are not separated into clear paragraphs. Connections between ideas are often abrupt: the discussion moves from people wasting water to cafes, government bakeries, bottled water and diseases without showing how these points support a single argument. Repeated openings such as “Now a days” and “Many people” also make progression feel repetitive. Organise the essay into an introduction, focused body paragraphs and a conclusion, using linking phrases to show the relationship between each reason and your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses a basic set of relevant words, including “clean water,” “water supply,” “health purposes” and “diseases,” so the general subject is usually understandable. There are also attempts to use more specific terms, such as “blood circulation” and “kidney stones.” However, vocabulary is repetitive, and several word choices or combinations are unclear or unnatural, including “recover the need of body,” “government bakeries” and “maintain text on clean water.” Spelling errors such as “neccessary,” “restuarants” and “benefical” further reduce accuracy. Build a more precise range for discussing access, affordability and public services, and check collocations and spelling. For example, use “meet the body’s needs,” “government facilities” and “taxes on water” where those meanings are intended.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The writing mainly relies on short, simple statements, with occasional attempts to connect ideas using “because,” “if” and “as a result.” This gives some basic sentence variety, but control is inconsistent. Examples include “They dont have pay it for water,” “They use more water through pipes” and “They are use in homes,” where verb forms or sentence construction are faulty. Agreement and articles are also problematic in phrases such as “many people wastes water” and “water is essential part of life.” Punctuation is often missing or awkward, particularly where full stops and commas run into the next sentence. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, verb patterns and articles first, then build longer sentences with one clear main clause and a correctly formed supporting clause.
