Student answer (Band 6.0)

Clean water is very basic necessity of life and human right. I believe that government should provide the access to water free of charge.

Water is an essential part of life. Without water, we can not survive. Being human, the water is basic need and right which should be properly acccessible to every individual. For example, our morning starts with the water, and it is used in every basic things of our daily routine like cooking, washing, drinking, gardening etc. We can not neglect its importance. It has a great significane in a life.Furthermore, if the clean water is not accessible then there are lot of dieseases caused by dirty water from which any living being can suffer.

However, there is some infrastructure required to setup the access to the water like source of water, pipeline, and other labors or persons involved. So, there would be a cost for the service which we can't neglect. Firstly, the goverment should try to manage this so that it would be free of cost, if it is not possible, then there should be a very minimum charges for the services and there could be policy of usage limit according to which the house will be charged and in my opinion, it should be free for some units consumption.

In conclusion, I firmly agree that having access to the basic water necessity should be provided free of charge so that the lower class people could manage their lives without the stree of even these important small things.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the opening: you support free access to clean water, and the conclusion restates this view. You address the central issue by explaining water’s importance for daily life and health, then acknowledging the costs of infrastructure and proposing free basic consumption or minimal charges. These are relevant points, but they are not developed equally. The examples of cooking, washing and drinking illustrate everyday use, while the infrastructure point would benefit from a clearer explanation of how governments could fund the service. Your suggestion of usage limits also introduces a qualification that could be reconciled more explicitly with the claim that every home should receive water free of charge. Develop these points with a specific example or clearer reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining the importance of water, a contrasting paragraph about delivery costs, and a conclusion. This gives the argument an overall coherent arrangement. Linking expressions such as “For example,” “Furthermore,” “However,” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the discussion. At times, however, the progression feels mechanical, and some connections between ideas are not fully clear. The shift from arguing for free water to suggesting charges and consumption limits needs a more explicit explanation of how this still supports your position. The long sentence beginning “Firstly, the government should try…” also combines several proposals, making their relationship harder to follow. Separate and sequence these ideas more clearly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “essential,” “infrastructure,” “accessible,” “diseases,” and “consumption.” These choices help communicate the main argument, and terms such as “pipeline” and “usage limit” are relevant to the practical side of water provision. However, several spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural combinations reduce accuracy, including “acccessible,” “significane,” “dieseases,” and “minimum charges.” Phrases such as “basic necessity of life” and “basic water necessity” are also awkward, while “other labors or persons involved” is not a natural way to describe the workforce. Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling carefully; this would make your vocabulary sound more controlled and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “if the clean water is not accessible then…” and a longer sentence setting out possible charging policies. The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. For example, “Clean water is very basic necessity” needs an article, and “it is used in every basic things” has a number-agreement problem. In “there should be a very minimum charges,” the determiner and plural noun do not agree. Some sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention, as in “It has a great significane in a life.Furthermore.” Work on articles, singular and plural agreement, and breaking up long sentences while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
