Student answer (Band 4.5)
WATER IS AN ESSENTIAL NEED IN OUR DAILY LIVES. IT IS HIGHLY UNDENIABLE THAT HAVING AN ACCESS TO CLEAN WATER COULD HELP EVERY INDIVIDUAL IN MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE. I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH THIS VIEW BECAUSE WATER IS NOT JUST A WANT, IT IS A NEED. THIS ESSAY WILL DISCUSS WHY EVERY HOUSES SHOULD HAVE A
THE PRIMARY REASON WHY I I SUPPORT THIS VIEW IS THAT WATER IS NOT JUST FOR DRINKING BUT IT IS ALSO USED DAILY IN EVERY ASPECT OF HOUSEHOLD CHORES. FOR INSTANCE, WE USE WATER TO WASH DISHES, TAKING A BATH, AND ALSO WATERING PLANTS IN OUR GARDEN. HAVING ACCESSIBLE FREE WATER IS NOT JUST FOR EVERY INDIVIDUAL BUT ALSO TO OTHER LIVING PLANTS AND ANIMALS AROUND US. WE SHOULD NOT BE

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
Your position is clear: “I COMPLETELY agree” that homes should have access to water, and you give relevant reasons, including drinking, household chores, and the needs of plants and animals. However, the response addresses the task only partially. It does not explain whether the supply should be free of charge in a developed way, and the examples are listed rather than supported with explanation. The essay also ends mid-thought (“WE SHOULD NOT BE”) and introduces “FURTHERMORE” without completing the point. The response is 130 words, below the required 250, so there is not enough development to fully answer the question. To improve, complete the essay and explain how free provision could protect people’s health and how its costs might be managed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening states your position, followed by a paragraph beginning “THE PRIMARY REASON,” and “FURTHERMORE” signals another point. These features give the reader some indication of the intended structure. However, there is no clear overall progression because the first paragraph stops mid-sentence, the second ends with “WE SHOULD NOT BE,” and the final paragraph contains only a linking word. As a result, ideas are not connected into a complete argument, and the reader cannot see how the points relate or conclude. Develop each paragraph around one complete idea, use linking expressions only when the next point is actually explained, and add a conclusion that restates your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a small set of relevant words and phrases, including “essential need,” “household chores,” and “access to clean water,” which makes the topic recognisable. There is also some attempt to express emphasis through phrases such as “not just a want, it is a need.” However, the vocabulary range is limited and several expressions are awkward or imprecise, such as “highly undeniable,” “having an access,” and “accessible free water.” Repetition of “water,” “every,” and “individual” also limits flexibility. Aim for more natural collocations and precise terms, for example, “a reliable supply of safe water” and “water for domestic use.” Building a wider range of topic vocabulary would help you explain the costs, benefits, and practical implications of free provision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including “I completely agree with this view because…” and “The primary reason why I support this view is that…”. These show an effort to connect ideas through subordinate clauses. However, the range remains limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the response difficult to follow. For example, “every houses should have” has an agreement error, while “we use water to wash dishes, taking a bath, and also watering plants” does not maintain a consistent grammatical form in its list. The opening and later paragraphs also contain incomplete sentences, including “This essay will discuss why every houses should have a” and “We should not be.” Practise complete sentence construction, consistent verb forms in lists, and accurate subject–verb agreement.
