Student answer (Band 6.0)
Clean water is a necessity that every human being in the world has a need of. As it is a basic human right, a good amount of population cannot afford to pay for it, especially the homeless and under privileged people. In my opinion, every home should be provided with clean water supply which is free of cost.
Clean water is very essential for a healthy life. In general, water is needed throughout the day for a number of tasks and chores which includes, cleaning, bathing, washing the dishes, laundry and many more chores around the house. Imagine if someone is not provided with clean water. eventually what will happen is that they will develop some diseases and get sick if the water is not clean. If they use that same water to drink, their stomach and other organs may be affected.
A good amount of population in Pakistan cannot afford many basic necessities. If the water supply is made free of cost, it will surely make a lot of difference in the lives of the poor and lower class people. They will be able to use the amount of money that they used to pay for water on other things that they cannot pay for.
As I mentioned earlier about the use of unclean water, I would state my own example. A few years ago, our water supply at home was contaminated with dirty water. The water used to smell bad and it got unbearable at one point. We couldn't figure out the reason for a good amount of time and meanwhile we used the same water to do everything. As some time passed by, I got sick. My stomach was very upset for about two months and I even lost weight due to this.
In conclusion, I would say that water should be made accessible for everyone and should be clean and free of cost. My personal example also serves as a reason to support the fact that clean water is very much necessary and that a good amount of the population of Pakistan belongs to the lower class and these basic needs should be made free to help with their finances.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: you agree that homes should receive clean water free of charge, and the conclusion restates this view. You give relevant support through the health risks of contaminated water, the financial pressures faced by poorer households in Pakistan, and your personal experience of illness after using contaminated water. These examples make the response persuasive and address the main question. However, some points are not fully developed: for example, you do not explain how a free supply could be funded or managed, and the discussion of household water uses does not directly establish why the supply should be free. Develop these links and explain the scope of “free” provision more precisely to make the argument more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces your view, presents health and affordability arguments, gives a personal example, and concludes by returning to your position. Paragraphs generally have clear purposes, and phrases such as “In my opinion,” “As I mentioned earlier,” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the essay. At times, however, cohesion is mechanical or repetitive. “A good amount of population” appears more than once, and the personal example is introduced with a reference to an earlier point without a particularly smooth transition. The long final sentence also combines several ideas. Use more varied links between claims and examples, and divide complex concluding points into clearer sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to discuss health, household needs, and poverty, including “contaminated,” “necessities,” and “lower class.” The personal account also gives you opportunities to use topic-specific language. However, several expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “a good amount of population,” “free of cost,” and “my stomach was very upset.” Repetition of “clean water,” “water,” and “free” also limits the range. Some word forms and phrasing, including “under privileged,” reduce accuracy and polish. Aim for more natural collocations and precise terms, while retaining clear language; for example, describe the affected group as “a significant proportion of the population” and refer to “waterborne illnesses” when discussing health risks.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including conditional and subordinate clauses such as “If the water supply is made free of cost, it will surely make a lot of difference” and “if someone is not provided with clean water.” Meaning remains clear throughout. Some grammatical and punctuation errors persist, however. In “tasks and chores which includes,” the verb should agree with the plural subject; “eventually” should not begin a sentence with a lowercase letter; and “As some time passed by” is an awkwardly formed time clause. There are also sentence-boundary problems, particularly in the long final sentence, which joins several claims. Check agreement and sentence openings, and use full stops to separate ideas. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen control.
