Student answer (Band 5.5)
In modern world, there are alot of big issues are present in this world for example war, unemployment and water crises. The most important problem is water crises. In this essay we will talk about water crises either water supply to every household should be free or not.
Well, if goverment should give free water supply to the every houshold, this can encourage people to waste the water. Because usually people understand the importance of those things which they feels difficulty to arrange. Goverment makes alot of new canals from the rivers to the different Agriculture field as well as makes new filter plants, by which they can supply drinkable water to household. It can be more difficult for the government to bear these expenses.
On the other side, Government should also respect the human rights. There is no doubt, that it is human right to have a drinkable water in their house. Some people are not able to earn more money so they are placed below the poverty line. Definately they are not able to pay the expenses of water in the form of water tax to govenment. So it is the duty of the govement to give them free drinkable water because they cannot afford the water tax.
In my opinion, Goverment should not give free water supply to every houshold because government cannot afford this burden on it. Also there are many nations across the world who even dont have dirty water to drink. Giving free water supply can encourage wasting of water which can cause water crises in the country in future. But goverment should make policies for people in which they have to pay little amount in the form of water tax. No high water tax because this is basic rights and government should respect the human rights.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address the question and give a clear overall position: you oppose free water for every household, while arguing that people who cannot afford it should receive support. Relevant reasons include the risk of waste and the cost of infrastructure, and you acknowledge the human-rights argument. However, some points are less fully developed than others. For example, the claim that free supply would encourage waste needs a concrete explanation or example, and the reference to nations without “dirty water” is unclear and does not strongly support your argument. Clarify how a low charge and targeted assistance could protect access while funding supply, so the position is more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, arguments about cost and access, and a concluding statement of your position. Paragraphing helps distinguish the opposing considerations, and transitions such as “On the other side” and “In my opinion” guide the reader. However, the progression is sometimes mechanical, with repeated references to government, water supply and human rights rather than clear links between each claim and its consequence. The opening also announces what the essay will discuss instead of presenting the argument directly. Improve cohesion by using more precise references and linking ideas explicitly—for instance, explain how a modest charge could fund infrastructure while exemptions protect low-income households.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main ideas, including relevant terms such as “poverty line,” “water tax,” “filter plants” and “human rights.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-choice and collocation errors reduce precision: “alot,” “water crises,” “drinkable water,” and “bear these expenses” are not consistently natural or accurate in context. Repetition of “free water supply” and “government” also makes the argument less varied. Aim to use more precise topic vocabulary and check common collocations—for example, “access to safe drinking water,” “water shortages,” “treatment plants,” and “cover the costs.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “if government should give free water supply … this can encourage people to waste the water” and a reason clause beginning “because they cannot afford the water tax.” Some sentence patterns are understandable, but errors in articles, agreement and clause construction recur. For example, “In modern world” needs an article, “there are alot of big issues are present” combines incompatible structures, and “people which they feels difficulty” has faulty relative-clause and agreement forms. There are also inconsistent sentence boundaries and comma use. Practise building accurate clauses first, then combine them: “If the government provided water free of charge, some people might use more than they need.”
