Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, the supply of clean and free of cost water has decreased to a greater extent. Almost all the cities in the Pakistan are moving towards establishing the system of providing the paid water. This situation is not only evident in cities, but villages are also observing the same trend. I believe government should provide water free of cost to every home because it is a one-time investment to build dams and systems for collecting and storing water. Additionally, government collect taxes on monthly basis that are enough to provide clean and free of charge water to the residents of the pakistan.

Advancement in technology has made easier to build dams and dig a well using latest machinery. Supply of clean and free of cost water can be made possible if government dig wells and build water tanks in different areas within the country. For example, in my village water is being supplied by a nearby village through pipes system after digging up a well and building a water tank. In this way, people are able to drink clean and free of cost water. The initial cost of digging up a well and establising a water transport system including buying a water motor, pipes and electricity being used is costly, however; with the introduction of solar systems the electricity problem has been solved.

Moreover, government is making people to pay taxes every month. People are contributing enough by paying these taxes in building these water supply systems. All that needs to be done is to allocate resources and people who are responsible enough and will work towards the benefit of mankind instead of thinking about their own benefir. Additionally, government can also ask for help to different foreign agencies and NGOs, who are working on solving on major problems like providing clearn and free water to humankind without any geographic restrictions.

In conclusion, all human beings living in the world have the basic right that they are provided clean water to drink. Additionally the water should be provided free of charge. Government can play an important role by working on this project and spending the money that is being collected in the form of taxes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that households should receive clean water without charge, and you give relevant reasons, including public tax revenue and the initial investment in wells, dams and storage systems. The village example also helps illustrate how a local supply can work. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, you say taxes are “enough” to fund free water, but do not show how ongoing costs such as treatment, repairs and distribution would be covered. The reference to foreign agencies and NGOs is relevant but brief, and the discussion focuses more on building infrastructure than on why water should be free for every home. Develop these points with clearer explanation and support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present reasons and an example, and the conclusion restates your position. Linking expressions such as “Additionally,” “Moreover” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. At times, however, the connections feel mechanical, and some references are not fully clear. For example, “All that needs to be done” follows the point about taxes but does not specify the practical steps or who should take them. The second body paragraph also combines taxation, responsible officials and NGO support, which would be easier to follow if each idea were developed in a more deliberate sequence. Use fewer repeated transitions and make links between claims explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your argument, including “water supply systems,” “allocate resources,” “taxes” and “solar systems.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “the benefit of mankind.” However, several expressions are repetitive or unnatural, particularly the repeated “free of cost” and “clean and free of charge water.” Some word choices and spelling errors reduce precision, including “establising,” “benefir” and “clearn.” Phrases such as “paid water” and “water transport system” are understandable but not the most natural choices in this context. Build a more precise range of collocations for water provision and public funding, and proofread spelling so that your meaning is consistently clear and appropriately formal.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in “The initial cost … is costly, however…” and a relative clause in “people who are responsible enough.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include “government collect taxes,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “if government dig wells,” where the verb form is incorrect. Articles and noun forms also need attention in phrases such as “in the Pakistan” and “a water transport system.” The long sentence beginning “All that needs to be done” is difficult to control, and punctuation around “however” is faulty. Review agreement, articles and conditional verb forms, and divide long sentences where needed.
