Student answer (Band 5.5)

Water is a basic need for everyone. Without water no one can survive and life become very difficult for humans as well as animals. I strongly agree with the statement because every one should need free clean water supply.

We used water in our daily life like in cooking, drinking and for cleaning purposes. But we sadly say that clean water is not available for everyone in the world. In my perspective govt of every country should play a very important role to provide a clean water for everyone. Drinking polluted water cause a various types of diseases like cholera and diabetes. Also polluted water effects skin. But main damage is eating our life. Govt should launced a awareness programs to educate people also they should make more water filtration plant in every city or specif areas of town that everyone can be accessible for everyone and make sure its 24 hour availability as well as free of charge. Making only water filtration plant is not enough they should need maintanace also proper check and balance.

For Example, I want to discuss here is i lived in a Pakistan its not too much developed country as compared to others one but we discuss its desert area named as Cholistan. There no water source present prople use rain storage water only they store water in a big holes like tubewell and later on they used this polluted water also they make ponds where animals and humans both drink water. They caused various types of diseases among in children as well as in adults. Its our government responsibility to provide clean water use different types of new technologies.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the opening: you strongly agree that clean water should be provided free, and you give relevant reasons, including health risks and the government’s role. The Cholistan example adds useful, specific support by showing how people rely on stored rainwater and share ponds with animals. This meets the task well, but the argument is not equally developed throughout. The discussion of filtration plants, public education, maintenance and 24-hour access introduces several proposals without explaining how free household supply would be funded or why it should apply to every home. To strengthen the response further, develop one or two central reasons in more depth and connect them directly to the claim that the supply should be free.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction states your view, the next paragraph explains the general problem and possible government action, and the final paragraph gives a local example. This makes the main line of argument understandable. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because several points are joined together in long sentences, particularly the list of filtration plants, awareness programmes, maintenance and availability. Linking phrases such as “But,” “Also” and “For Example” are used, but some connections feel mechanical or do not clearly show how one idea follows from another. Use clearer topic sentences, separate distinct proposals, and make references such as “they” and “this” unambiguous to improve cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “polluted water,” “filtration plant,” “diseases” and “water source,” so the reader can understand the main subject and examples. There are also attempts to express more specific ideas, such as “24 hour availability” and “maintenance.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make parts of the response awkward or unclear. For example, “eating our life” does not convey the intended harm, and “a awareness programs” is not a natural phrase. Spelling errors such as “launced” and “maintanace” also reduce accuracy. Build a bank of topic-specific collocations and check spelling and word forms when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You communicate your main position and supporting points using both simple sentences and some attempts at longer structures. The meaning is generally recoverable, but grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “life become very difficult,” “Drinking polluted water cause,” and “they should need maintanace,” where verb forms or sentence construction are faulty. There are also problems with articles and sentence boundaries, as in “provide a clean water” and the long sentence beginning “Govt should launced.” Aim to produce accurate basic sentences first, then add complex structures with clear clauses. Check subject–verb agreement, verb tense, articles and punctuation during revision.
