Student answer (Band 6.0)
Drinkable and clean water should be available at every house at zero cost as this is a fundamental right. I agree with this point of view because unhygenic water can be the source of multiple diseases also some people might not be able to afford fresh water from the supermarkets.
Life is not possible without water. Dirty water can cause numerous diseases that can put an unnecessary pressure on the hospitals. It is the responsibility of the government to make sure that water reaches at every house and there should be no charges for this basic right. If this does not happens, people will ultimately start drinking unhealthy water and may get sick. For instance, if the citizens keeps drinking the water from a tap in the house which is not clean, that will affect the health of the people and they will definitely get sick in future.
Another factor is affordability. Most people purchase water from the supermarket and drink less. The major reason is that they can afford clean water every day. Consequently, they will get dehydrated. Dehydration is one of the significant causes of many skin diseases. For example, a resident who is barely managing the life expenses like rent, travelling and many more that person will try to save some money by drinking less water will ultimately fall a prey to dehydration. So, the government should make clean water accessible at every house.
To conclude, I would strongly agree that providing cost free clean water should be the priority of the government that would result in better hygiene of the citizens. So, I believe that this fundamental right must be given to every individual.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the opening—“I agree”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You give two relevant reasons: unsafe water can cause illness, and the cost of obtaining clean water may lead people to drink too little. The examples about household tap water and a resident struggling with expenses help illustrate these points. However, the first reason is more fully explained than the second, and some claims need clearer support: for example, the link between dehydration and “many skin diseases” is asserted rather than explained. The response also focuses on free household supply without considering how this could be provided or funded. Develop the consequences and examples more precisely to make the argument more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your view. Sequencing phrases such as “Another factor,” “Consequently,” and “To conclude” make the main stages easy to follow. Within paragraphs, however, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening sentence joins the disease risk and affordability with “also” without clear punctuation, while the example beginning “For example, a resident…” becomes difficult to follow because several ideas are packed together. Repetition of “clean water,” “government,” and “people” also makes the progression less smooth. Use clearer sentence boundaries and refer back to ideas more precisely so the links feel natural rather than formulaic.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “fundamental right,” “numerous diseases,” “affordability,” “dehydrated,” and “accessible.” These choices communicate your main ideas, and attempts at more formal language are evident. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, though: “unhygenic” is misspelled, “water reaches at every house” is not a natural expression, and “fall a prey to dehydration” is an unsuitable collocation. “Drink less” is also vague in the context of water access. Aim for more precise, natural phrasing and check spelling, especially when using less common expressions. This would make the argument sound more fluent and controlled.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including conditional structures such as “If this does not happens…” and a relative clause in “a resident who is barely managing…”. The overall meaning is generally clear, but some errors in verb forms, agreement, sentence boundaries, and clause construction remain. For example, write “If this does not happen,” and “if citizens keep drinking,” rather than “does not happens” and “citizens keeps.” The long example beginning “For example, a resident…” lacks a clear main-clause structure, and the opening paragraph needs punctuation to separate its connected ideas. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and shaping longer sentences into complete, clearly punctuated clauses.
