Student answer (Band 6.0)

Every apartment should be provided with free of cost clean water, as having the pure water is fundamental right of every human being. I completely agree with this statement because it is one of the few basic amenities, which should be provided to everyone irresepective of their race or culture.

Firstly, there are basic rights of every citizen, every government is obligied to provide these rights. The pure water is one those fundamental rights. There are many health issues which are linked with contaminated water. Millions of the people suffer from dysentery and chronic kidney diseases every year due to lack access to the clean water. This exert extra burden on the health system of the states. Provision of clean water can save the millions of dollars, which are allocated for health sector. Secondly, Many companies are selling the clean water and earning millions of dollars. This is violation of basic human rights as free water supply should be abundant in homes, offices and in the airports.

The metropolitan cities like Karachi and Mumbai are facing severe water supply crisis now a days. Large tankers supply water in these cities and earn lot of money. Although, these practices should be discouraged and local authorities should take responsibility of resolve water crisis. Governments in South Asian countries take monthly charges for clean water supply. On the other hand, they claim to be the welfare states.

In conclusion, every human has the fundamental right of having plenty of free and clean water in his access, whether he lives in big city or he lives in a remote village

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the opening: you completely agree that clean water should be provided free, and the conclusion restates this view. You support it with relevant points about health problems caused by contaminated water, the costs to health systems, and water shortages in Karachi and Mumbai. These examples help address the question rather than merely asserting a right. However, some claims are broad or not fully explained—for example, the link between free household supply and reducing health expenditure, and the claim that companies selling water violate human rights. Develop these points by explaining how a publicly funded supply could work and acknowledging practical costs or limits. This would make the support more fully reasoned.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a main discussion, and a conclusion, with ideas generally moving from rights and health to commercial supply and city shortages. Signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “Although,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. However, the second body paragraph combines several related but distinct points—private water sales, city tanker shortages, and government charges—without clearly showing how each supports the central claim. Some linking is also mechanical, and the reference in “these rights” could be more precise. Give each main reason a clearer paragraph focus and use transitions that explain the relationship between examples and claims, rather than relying mainly on sequencing words.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for the topic, including relevant terms such as “contaminated water,” “chronic kidney diseases,” “water supply crisis,” and “local authorities.” These choices make the subject clear, and the meaning is generally understandable. There are, however, several inaccurate or awkward expressions that limit precision: “free of cost,” “the pure water,” “one those fundamental rights,” and “earn lot of money.” Spelling errors such as “irresecpective” and “obligied” also reduce control. Aim for natural collocations and accurate word forms—for example, “free of charge,” “clean water,” and “make substantial profits.” More precise language would also help qualify broad claims about companies and governments.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex structures, including a reason clause (“because it is one of the few basic amenities”) and a concession beginning “Although.” The overall meaning remains clear, but some errors in articles, agreement, verb patterns, and sentence construction are noticeable. For example, “having the pure water is fundamental right” needs article use, while “This exert extra burden” has a subject–verb agreement problem. The sentence “Although, these practices should be discouraged and local authorities should take responsibility of resolve water crisis” has faulty punctuation and verb patterns. Review articles and countable nouns, agreement, and constructions such as “take responsibility for resolving.” More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen control.
