Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, people argue that filtered water is fundamental human right. Clean water should be provided to every household without taking any cost. This essay will discuss the right and free suply before arguing that water without taking any cost will impact negativity on infrastructure. I strongly agree that, there should be tax implimentation for over using the water.

On the one hand, providing purified water to every citizens is the baseline need and right. People who are belong from lower middle class are forced to take unpurified and polluted water which causes waterborn diseases like cholera and typhoid. For instance, in many urban cities like Karachi is facing the problem of water shortages, they are not getting their basic right which is causes stress and they are taking polluted water and admitted to hospitals due to water diseases. When they will get clean water the causes of hospitalization will decrease.

On the other hand, water should be provided free to fulfill the basic need of household like drinking, cleaning and cooking. While the accessive range of free water can lead to many other infrastructure issues. When people get free water, they will be careless and it leads to wastage of water. People will not care about any water liking as well. So, Government should fix the tanks for free water in each house but charge when it needed more water tanks for other activities like gardening.

In conclusion, clean water should be provided to every citizen to protect from diseases which are incresaing due to polluted water. Every home get free water only to cover their basic needs but increas bill units when they over use the water.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you support free access to clean water for essential household needs, while accepting charges for excessive use. This addresses the central question and is supported with relevant points about waterborne illness, household needs and waste. The Karachi example helps make the health argument concrete. The response also shows some development beyond a simple opinion, particularly by distinguishing basic use from gardening. However, the opening claim that you “strongly agree” is slightly confusing alongside the argument for charging some users, and the proposal to charge for “more water tanks” is not fully explained. Clarify that you agree with free provision of a basic amount, then develop how a fair limit or tariff would work and support the infrastructure concern more directly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs and a conclusion. “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” signal the shift between the health argument and concerns about waste, while the conclusion returns to your main position. This makes the overall line of thought understandable. At times, however, connections are mechanical or unclear: “This essay will discuss the right and free supply before arguing…” does not accurately preview the position, and “So” introduces a policy suggestion without clearly linking it to the infrastructure concern. Some references, such as “it” in “it leads to wastage,” could be more precise. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example explicitly to the claim it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “purified water,” “water shortages,” “waterborne diseases,” “infrastructure” and “wastage,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There are also attempts to express more specific concepts, such as “basic needs” and “over use.” However, inaccurate word forms, spelling and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less natural: “fundamental human right,” “free suply,” “accessive range,” “water liking” and “incresaing” are examples. Some phrases are also imprecise, particularly “more water tanks” when you appear to mean additional water use. Build accuracy by checking spelling and choosing standard collocations, such as “access to clean water,” “excessive consumption” and “water leakage.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a relative clause in “which causes waterborn diseases” and a conditional structure beginning “When people get free water.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “every citizens” has incorrect agreement, “People who are belong” uses an unnecessary verb, and “which is causes stress” has an incorrect verb construction. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention: “filtered water is fundamental human right” requires an article, and the opening sentence of the second body paragraph is followed by a fragment beginning “While.” Aim to make each sentence complete, check subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and use punctuation to separate linked ideas accurately.
