Student answer (Band 5.5)

Water is an essential part of life. Without it, human survival is impossible. Such is the reason water is a basic human right. Every home desearves water supply andit should be free of charge.

I agree with the providence of clean water to every home because water plays a major role in keeping human beings alive. It keeps them hydrated and active. If water is not avaialbe to every house, everybody would go and collect water from that one reservior in the town. It will result in chaos. Moreover, It should be provided free of coste as it is a basic human right. Basic human right is promised by every government. Hence, water should be provided to every home free of cost

Secondly, clean water availability in every household ensure effective functioning of various dailylife activities. For instance, it is used in cooking, making juices, washing dishes and cars. If water is not avaiable in every home, these activities would be negatively affected. I would explain this with the example of sub-saharan women. They travel 40 miles daily just to collect clean water. There life is affected manifold due to such inavailability. Therefore, every home should have a water supply and also it should be free of cost.

In summary, it could be concluded that water is a basic human right that needs to be provided to every citizen. Not only its providence is required but also the access should be guaranteed free of cost.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you agree that every home should receive clean water without charge, and you give relevant reasons about survival and household activities. The examples of people collecting water from a town reservoir and women in sub-Saharan Africa help illustrate the consequences of limited access. However, the second reason is mainly listed rather than developed, and the claim that governments promise this right needs explanation or support. The response also falls short of the required 250 words: 237 words were counted, with eight words copied from the prompt excluded. To strengthen the response, explain how free provision could be funded or address a possible counterargument, and extend each example with a clearer link to your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs beginning with “Moreover” and “Secondly,” and a concluding summary. The ideas generally progress from water’s importance for survival to its role in daily activities, so the reader can follow your overall argument. However, some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, “It will result in chaos” does not explain precisely how a shared reservoir would create that outcome, and “There life is affected manifold” does not clearly identify whose lives are meant. The conclusion repeats the main claim without drawing the reasons together. Use clearer referencing and explain the connection between each example and the point it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “human right,” “hydrated,” “household,” and “availability,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “effective functioning” and “negatively affected.” However, several spelling errors and awkward or inaccurate word choices reduce precision, including “desearves,” “avaialbe,” “reservior,” and “providence” where “provision” is intended. Phrases such as “free of coste” and “daily life activities” are also not natural collocations. Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than repeating “free of cost”; proofreading spelling and checking word forms would make your argument clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple statements and some longer structures, including the conditional “If water is not available to every house…” and the complex sentence beginning “Not only…”. Most sentences communicate the intended point, but there are some errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “clean water availability in every household ensure” needs a singular verb, while “Basic human right is promised by every government” needs an article and a more complete grammatical formulation. The final “Not only” construction is also not balanced with a corresponding “but also” structure. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and articles, and make sure paired structures are grammatically parallel.
