Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today life most of the developing nations struggling with access of clean water. It is argued that access to clean water is the basic human right. Therefore every home should have a supply of water that should be free of charges. I firmly agree with the notion because access to clean water can reduce water born diseases and also mortality rate.

Clean water supply should be free because it has several reasons. Firstly, it can reduce the burden of bills on low income developing nations. For instance in mardan people spent 20% of their salary on water bills and do not a clean water supply which significantly increase the rate of water born diseases like diahrea, constipation and other gut issues.

Secondly, clean water is nessesary for every part of the life. For example people use water to take bath, wash, dishes and clothes and therefore clean water should be free. Paying water bills can be very hard for low income families as they also have alot of resposibilities and water bills will put an extra burden on their salary. However, government should insure that the water they providing is not wasting and they should strickly avoid water contamination and wastage.

Consequently, access to clean water is basic human right therefor it should be free of cost and the state should take reposiblity to provide uncontaminated water and also make sure that the water they providing in not wasting. In this way we can segnificantly reduce water born diseases and mortality rate.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you firmly agree that household water should be free, and you give relevant reasons, including reducing disease and easing the financial burden on low-income families. The examples about water bills in Mardan and everyday uses of water help address the question. However, several points are asserted rather than fully explained: for instance, the link between free water and lower mortality is repeated but not developed, and the Mardan example could clarify how free provision would improve access. The response also does not meet the required minimum: it contains 243 words, seven short, with nine words copied from the prompt excluded from the count. Develop one or two examples further and ensure the response reaches the required length.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present reasons, and the conclusion restates your position. Sequencing signals such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Consequently” make the progression easy to follow. However, the links between some ideas are mechanical or unclear. The first body paragraph moves from household bills to disease without fully explaining the connection, while the second combines daily uses, affordability, and government responsibility. The conclusion also repeats several phrases from the introduction. Group related points more tightly, use clearer references to connect cause and effect, and make the final paragraph synthesise your argument rather than repeat it.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main points, including “water supply,” “water contamination,” “low income families,” and “mortality rate.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “burden of bills” and “uncontaminated water.” However, the range is limited and several spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision: “water born diseases,” “free of charges,” “diahrea,” and “responsibility” are examples. Some wording is also repetitive, particularly “clean water” and “water bills.” Build a more accurate range of topic vocabulary and check spelling and natural word combinations; this would make your argument clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause in “I firmly agree … because access to clean water can reduce…” and a conditional-style point about government responsibility. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors occur in basic sentence patterns as well as longer constructions. Examples include “In today life most of the developing nations struggling,” which lacks an auxiliary verb, and “the water they providing,” which needs a finite verb form. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “access to clean water is basic human right.” Use a wider range of structures only when you can control them, and carefully check verb forms, articles, and punctuation.
