Student answer (Band 5.5)

Water is a basic need of every human being which should be availble for every person of this world. Nowadays, its very difficult to find clean water free of cost and that is against human right. In poor contries, Chlidrens does not have acces to clean water and they are drinking poluted water which is causing many health problems such as hepatitis. Many African countries are facing water scarecity, they dont have dams and enough water storage. they are dependent on the water wells and they dont have the infrastructure to clean that water. they use the same water for daily usade and for drinking purpose.

Each country should have a legislation to make it mandatory to supply clean water to every household of the country. Big brands and boring wholes into the earth and extrcating this basic human need and selling it very high price which should be availbe free of cost. Goverments should step into this and stop the manoply of these rich brands. Goverments should take measurs to take care of their people and provide clean water to each house hold free of cost. A dedicated water pipelines should be build toeach house hold.

In my own village, we doesnt have a water supply of clean water, people go to near water distribution plant and fill their cans for daily use but there is no maintanance of that plant and iots its a risk for the health. Goverments should take it seariously and take necessary measures to provide clean and free water to every person.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that households should receive clean water free of charge, and you support this with relevant points about health, government responsibility and your village’s water-distribution plant. The example of people collecting water from a poorly maintained plant makes the issue concrete. However, some ideas are asserted rather than explained. For instance, you mention that large companies extract and sell water at high prices, but do not show how this relates to the practical question of providing a free household supply. The discussion of water scarcity and infrastructure could also explain how governments might fund or deliver the service. Developing these points more fully and addressing the costs or feasibility of free provision would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure: it introduces the issue, gives reasons for government action, and ends with a personal example. This helps the reader follow your main position. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes abrupt. The first paragraph moves from children’s health to dams and water storage without clearly linking these points, while the second shifts quickly from legislation to companies and then pipelines. Connections such as “As a result” or “To address this” could clarify how each point follows from the previous one. Some references are also unclear, particularly “that water” and “this basic human need.” Organising each paragraph around one main reason, then explaining and illustrating it, would create a smoother argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “clean water,” “infrastructure,” “legislation,” “water pipelines” and “health problems,” so the reader can understand the subject and your main ideas. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “water distribution plant.” However, spelling errors are frequent and sometimes make reading less smooth: examples include “availble,” “poluted,” “scarecity” and “manoply.” Some word combinations are also unnatural, such as “boring wholes into the earth” and “daily usade.” Aim to check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for this topic, such as “drill wells,” “water scarcity” and “daily use.” More accurate phrasing would make your vocabulary clearer and more effective.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You communicate your main ideas using both simple statements and some longer sentence forms, including the explanation that people use the same water for daily needs and drinking. However, control of sentence structure and basic grammar is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make the reader pause. For example, “Chlidrens does not have” has a subject–verb agreement and plural-form problem, while “we doesnt have” also needs agreement. The sentence beginning “Big brands and boring…” is not a complete, clearly structured sentence, and several sentences run together without appropriate capitalisation or punctuation. Practise forming complete sentences, checking subject–verb agreement and using full stops to separate distinct ideas. This will help your varied ideas read more clearly.
