Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear in the opening and conclusion: you agree that clean water should be free. You give relevant reasons, including health risks from contaminated water and water’s role in daily activities. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The health paragraph repeats the danger of dirty water, while claims about hormones and future generations are unclear and not explained. The example of a study is vague, with no detail showing how it supports your argument. The response also focuses mainly on why clean water matters, rather than explaining why it should be provided free of charge or addressing how this could work. Develop distinct reasons and support each with a clear, relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an identifiable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a concluding statement. Linking expressions such as “To commence with,” “Furthermore,” and “Thus” help signal stages in the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is often difficult to follow because ideas are repeated or connected unclearly. For example, the first body paragraph moves from health risks to a study, then to the claim that water should be free without explaining the link. Phrases such as “In the other words” and “To explicate it” do not always introduce a clear next step, and “this” in the final paragraph has an uncertain reference. Organise each paragraph around one reason and use simpler, more precise links between claim, explanation and example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “human right,” “disease,” “organs,” “clean water” and “generations,” so the reader can identify the subject and main concerns. However, the range is limited and many word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make parts of the argument difficult to understand. Examples include “filty,” “unpurify water,” “hygin water,” and “water is uesable in every sigle thing.” Some expressions are also unnatural, such as “free of cost” and “a normal human right.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations such as “safe drinking water,” “contaminated water” and “provided free of charge.” Check spelling and word forms carefully, and avoid using unfamiliar terms unless you are sure of their meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with reasons, using forms such as “if people drink…” and “because…”. However, the range is limited, and attempts to build complex sentences are often faulty, so the reader has to work to interpret several points. For example, “I am agree” has an incorrect verb form, while “if we not drink a clean water so its also effect are hormonce” contains problems with negation, clause structure and agreement. Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “the clean water” and the lowercase “because” after a full stop. Practise forming clear conditional sentences and checking subject–verb agreement, verb forms, articles and punctuation. Short, accurate sentences would make your reasoning easier to follow.
