Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you strongly agree that clean water should be available to households, and you give relevant reasons involving health, farming, education and hygiene. These points show an understanding of the topic. However, the response only partly addresses the central proposal that water should be supplied free of charge. Most of your discussion explains why water is necessary, rather than why households should or should not pay for it. Some claims, such as clean water helping children’s brain and height development, also need clearer explanation or support. To strengthen the response, directly discuss the costs and benefits of free provision, develop each main reason with a specific example, and maintain a clear position on who should fund the supply.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has an introduction, several body points and a concluding statement, and signposts such as “Furthermore” and “In addition” help show that you are adding reasons. However, the progression is often difficult to follow because ideas are introduced without being clearly explained or linked. For example, the point about economic and educational potential moves quickly from family growth to children’s development, while the final paragraph combines disease prevention, hygiene and several facts about the human body. Some linking phrases, including “To commence with” and “To be conclude,” are also used mechanically or inaccurately. Organise the essay around two or three clearly distinct reasons, explain each in sequence, and use transitions that show the relationship between ideas rather than simply announcing another point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “waterborne disease,” “physical survival,” “hygiene” and “regulating body temperature.” This gives the response some relevant language for discussing health and water access. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or spellings make parts difficult to understand, such as “neat and clean,” “cristle clear,” “household Chors” and “highdrate.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “source of living” and “medically issues.” Aim to learn common collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise expressions such as “safe drinking water,” “water supply,” “water-related illnesses” and “household chores” would make your ideas clearer and more appropriate for an academic essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You try to use both simple and longer sentences, and the response includes some attempts to connect clauses with words such as “because,” “so” and “which.” However, the range of structures is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make several sentences hard to follow. For example, “Life without water can’t imaginable” is missing a verb form, while “A human can life” uses an incorrect verb after “can.” The opening position statement, “I am strongly agree,” also has an incorrect verb pattern. Other sentences have unclear clause structure, such as “the first and foremost reason is there is some areas.” Practise building accurate subject–verb sentences first, then add subordinate clauses, checking verb forms, articles and agreement.
