Student answer (Band 5.5)
I completely agree with the point that water is a basic human right and every living being on planet earth should have an access of clean and fresh water for the daily necessties like drinking, cooking and use of water in toilets. However, as the population of the world is immensely increasing; the need for fresh water is also increasing day by day. Everyday, we hear the news of climate change that is causing glaciers to melt, which in turn limiting our access to fresh water. In this situation, there should be a proper check and balance for the individuals to consume water responsibly. As humans, it is our responsibility to protect our nature and everything associated to it. The gravity of the sitaution demands human action and it could only be possible when there are measures to conserve water and avoiding unnessary wastage of clean water.
In my opinion, the water supply system should be managed by govrement through proper channel and there should be a little to no cost for water supply. In this way, the use of water could be limited and unnessary wastage of water can be avoided. This could be done by charging a fixed amount every month that everyone can afford. In this way, every one can access water and in the back of their heads, they would have this responsibility to avoid wastage. Govrement should also have a grant aid system for poor people. The size of the family would also decide the amount of water usage how they would be charged for it.
This could be a reasonable approach for accessing water in my opinion.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you agree that access to water is a right, while arguing that a small, affordable charge could discourage waste and that government support should protect poorer households. These points are relevant and show an attempt to address the tension between universal access and responsible use. However, the response only partly develops the central claim about whether every home should receive water free of charge. The opening supports access to clean water, but the later proposal for monthly charges is not explicitly reconciled with your stated agreement. The effects of charging families by size and the proposed aid system are also asserted rather than explained with examples or supporting reasoning. Clarify your position on free provision and develop the practical consequences of your proposal.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable progression: it introduces the right to water and conservation, then proposes government management and assistance for poorer households. Paragraphing helps distinguish the general argument from the proposed system, and linking phrases such as “In this way” make some relationships clear. However, the progression is not consistently developed: the discussion moves from climate change to individual responsibility and then to charging without fully explaining the links. “In this way” is repeated, and the final sentence restates that the approach is reasonable rather than adding a developed conclusion. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each supporting point directly to your position, with less reliance on repeated linking phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “climate change,” “conserve water,” “water supply system,” and “grant aid system,” so the reader can follow the main ideas. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “the gravity of the situation demands human action.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision: “access of clean and fresh water,” “proper check and balance,” and “avoiding unnecessary wastage” are not natural or accurate formulations. Misspellings such as “necessties,” “sitaution,” “unnessary,” and “govrement” are noticeable. Build accuracy by learning common collocations for access, supply, conservation, and affordability, and proofread spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including a relative clause about climate change and a conditional structure in “when there are measures to conserve water.” Most of the meaning remains understandable, but control is uneven, particularly in longer sentences. For example, “which in turn limiting our access” lacks a finite verb, while “the amount of water usage how they would be charged for it” is an incomplete and confusing construction. There are also errors with articles and sentence boundaries, as in “should have an access” and the comma splice after “increasing.” Aim to make each sentence grammatically complete, check subject–verb forms, and divide long sentences where the relationship between clauses is unclear.
