Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often being argued that access to pure water is the fundamental right of the every human being because it is essential for maintaining health and for other purposes. I strongly agree that the supply of water should be provided free of cost completely to each house. Although, the excessive consumption should be discouraged to fulfill the need of people properly.

First of all, water is the basic need for maintaining the proper health of every person. The supply of water should carry no charge so that people easily enjoy this blessing of God and fulfill their needs. Furthurmore, it is reliable for people to perform their tasks accurately by enjoying this facility free of cost because it would also reduce the budget of each family and feel free themselves from paying a large amount of bills.

On the other hand, the wastage of water should alos be discouraged because of this society will face the shortage of clean water properly will become a hurdle in their lifestyle. Morever, it should be neccessary for every citizen to be careful in excessive consumption of water because it will problematic after shortage of pure water. Obviously, society need water should be free from microbes and other toxic materials and if they will become careless and waste water it would be a big problem in future.

In conclusion, the water is the basic neccessity of life so Authorities should make

sure that the supply of clean water should be accessible for each household with no charge. Although, the more wastage of water should be inhibited to save and maintain the quality of water for already existing and upcoming generations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you strongly agree that household water should be free, while adding that excessive use should be discouraged. You give relevant reasons, including water’s importance to health and the potential relief from household bills. However, the response only partly develops the task: it does not explain how free provision could be funded or how essential access could be protected while discouraging waste. The point about water being “free from microbes and other toxic materials” is relevant to clean water, but its connection to your argument about charging is not fully explained. Develop each main reason with a specific example or explanation, and clarify whether you mean unlimited free water or a free basic supply with charges for excessive use.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the paragraphs broadly separate the case for free water from concerns about waste. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear. For example, the first body paragraph moves from health to “tasks” and then family budgets without showing how these points connect. Linking expressions such as “First of all,” “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help signal stages, but some are used mechanically or do not express the relationship precisely; the second paragraph presents a qualification rather than a fully opposing view. Improve cohesion by ordering each paragraph around one main claim and using clear references and transitions to explain how each supporting point follows.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “fundamental right,” “excessive consumption,” “shortage” and “toxic materials,” and the meaning is generally understandable. However, the range is limited by repeated wording such as “free of cost,” “water” and “should,” while several choices are inaccurate or unnatural. For instance, “it is reliable for people to perform their tasks” does not express the intended benefit, and “the more wastage of water” is awkward. Spelling errors such as “Furthurmore,” “neccessary” and “Morever” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of collocations for water access and conservation, and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a concession in “Although, the excessive consumption should be discouraged” and conditional structures such as “if they will become careless.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors sometimes make relationships difficult to follow. Examples include “the every human being,” “because of this society will face the shortage,” and “society need water,” which show problems with articles, clause structure and subject–verb agreement. The opening “It is often being argued” is also an awkward passive construction, and punctuation after “Although” is incorrect. Practise forming complete clauses and accurate conditionals, and check agreement and articles when editing; clearer control of these patterns would make your ideas easier to understand.
