Student answer (Band 6.0)
Water is a basic necessity among food and shelter. Therefore, Should water be free in every household without any fees. I partially agree with the notion and will address my reasonable thoughts and arguments that why I believe that it can be turn into a disaster in the forthcoming paragraphs.
On the one hand, Water is one of the important things in human life and without it any living being cannot survive. To be more specific, There are several poor nations where people die due to lack of potable water. Thus, it is a government responsibility to fulfill the requirement, since it is everyone's right and no one can package it and claim it for themselves and add a price tag on it.
On the other hand, there are severe consequence of this act also it is a natural human behaviour examined by many researchers that when something humans get free they generally don't care about it and treated as it is a less valuable. For Instance, in many cities where water supply is free, the more it consume it. The people living there more waste it because the supply is limitless without any charges.
After analyzing both viewpoints I am of the opinion that water should be less costlier but never be free and this also only ought to be in developing becuase of the low purchasing power and it is very pivotal for survival.
To Conclude, Undoubtedly, Water is very crucial and it is used in many purposes but a minimum charge should be taken from citizens to prevent over consumption.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is identifiable: you partly agree that water should be affordable, but argue that a small charge is needed to discourage waste. You address both the human-rights case and the risk of overconsumption, so the response remains relevant. The point about poor nations lacking potable water is pertinent, but it is not fully connected to a practical proposal for ensuring access. Likewise, the claim that free water leads people to waste it is asserted rather than supported with a clear, specific example. Your conclusion also introduces a qualification—free or cheaper water only in developing countries—that is not explained in the body. Develop these distinctions and clarify how your policy would protect people who cannot pay.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To Conclude” make the main stages easy to follow, and the argument progresses from access to the consequences of free provision. This organisation is effective, though some links between claims need clearer explanation. For example, the move from water being a human right to the government’s responsibility is understandable, but the reasoning about how a charge would affect access is not developed. The final reference to developing countries also feels abrupt because it has not been prepared earlier. Use linking phrases to show cause and contrast more precisely, and make references such as “this act” explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “basic necessity,” “potable water,” “purchasing power,” and “over consumption,” which helps communicate the central issue. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “fulfill the requirement” and “pivotal for survival.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “less costlier,” “in many purposes,” and “the more it consume it.” Spelling errors such as “becuase” and “consequence” (where the plural is needed) also reduce precision. These problems do not prevent the reader from understanding your position, but more natural collocations and careful proofreading would make the argument clearer and more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “when something humans get free they generally don't care about it” and a reason clause beginning “since.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity. For example, “Should water be free…” is an incomplete question after the opening statement, and “there are severe consequence” has a number-agreement error. In “the more it consume it,” the subject and verb do not agree, while “this also only ought to be in developing” lacks a clear grammatical completion. Capitalisation after sentence breaks is also inconsistent. Practise forming complete questions and clauses, checking subject–verb agreement and plural forms, and separating sentences where needed.
