Student answer (Band 5.5)

The access to clean water is a basic need for every individual, a water supply should be provided free of cost for every single house. I agree to the above statement. This essay will elucidate the reasons in support of my opinion.

To begin with, clean water acess is a fundamental human right and consequently government should provide it to every household completely free of charge as it is essential for every survival. Clean water is crucial for public health and sanitation. The primary reason is without reliable access to clean water, many indivials might suffer with several diseases and hence result in lower standards of living. Additionally, I disagree with the statement that providing water free of charge because of funancial and environmentally unsustainability. The process of cleaning, filtering and disturbing water to residential areas require massive infrastructure and by receiving water free of cost people might waste water and might refuse to value water need.

Furthermore, the government should take an action regarding the use of waste and disposing waste products in the rivers, wells and seas. Strict rules and regulations should be taken and punishment should be given to the one who are putting waste, dumps in the water a fine should be paid by the one who do not follow the basic rules. This is main reason because of which public health is being effected.

In conclusion, clean water should be provide to every individual but even its a responsibility of the local people to keep their water resources clean.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear in the opening: you agree that households should receive clean water free of charge, and you give relevant reasons concerning health and access. However, the response only partly develops the task because it introduces a conflicting point—“I disagree with the statement that providing water free of charge”—without explaining how this fits your overall agreement. The concerns about infrastructure costs and waste are relevant, but they are not resolved or balanced against your position. The paragraph about pollution and penalties is also only indirectly connected to whether household water should be free. To strengthen the response, explain your position consistently and develop each main reason with a specific example or clearer explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Additionally” and “Furthermore” help indicate movement between points. However, progression is weakened by the sudden shift from supporting free water to saying “I disagree” with providing it free, which leaves the relationship between ideas unclear. The second body paragraph moves from water pricing to pollution enforcement without a clear link, and the conclusion does not resolve the contradiction. Some sentences also combine several points, making the argument harder to follow. Organise the essay around a consistent position, use each paragraph for one main reason, and add linking explanations that show how each point supports your answer.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “public health,” “sanitation,” “infrastructure,” and “water resources,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “fundamental human right” and “Strict rules and regulations.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “acess,” “indivials,” “funancial,” and “disturbing” where “distributing” is intended. Some expressions are awkward or imprecise, such as “suffer with several diseases,” “value water need,” and “use of waste.” These choices sometimes make the intended meaning less clear. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations, for example “suffer from diseases,” “value water,” and “waste disposal.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “as it is essential” and a conditional structure with “without reliable access.” This shows some range, but control is inconsistent. The opening joins two independent clauses with a comma, and the sentence beginning “Additionally, I disagree…” is incomplete in structure. Other examples include “government should provide,” “for every survival,” “the process … require,” and “water should be provide,” where articles, agreement or verb forms need correction. Punctuation also causes problems in the long sentence about fines and rule-breaking. Aim to make each sentence complete, check subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and use shorter sentences when expressing several connected ideas.
