Student answer (Band 6.0)

Every home should have a water supply, free of charge, as clean water is a basic human need. I largely agree with the statement.

World is full of natural resources. Humans can use those natural resources to keep themselves alive. Water is one of them. Drinking clean water is a need of every human being. Clean water should be available, free of cost, to every one aroud the world.

In old times, kings and rich people of a country used to control the watery system for their people. Slaves and normal citizens were not allowed to drink from the same well where kings or other influencial people used to drink. Having clean water to drink was no lesser than a blessing. In comparison, nowadays almost everyone has access to clean water. Although big cities have dirty water system, governements have installed water plants in every few kilometers of their town to fill get mineral water. Governments are working to provide clean water. free access to clean water protects public health, which benefits society as a whole.

Water is a necessity rather than a luxury, so charging for it is unfair to poorer households. A wealthy family can afford bottled water or a private filter, whereas a low income family may spend a large share of its monthly earnings on tanker water. Making the supply free would remove this gap, ensuring that every child, regardless of background, has the same chance to stay healthy and attend school instead of spending hours collecting water.

In conclusion, water is a necessity and should be provided to everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the opening: you “largely agree,” and the conclusion restates that water should be provided to everyone. You give relevant reasons, especially that water is essential and that charges can place an unfair burden on poorer households; the comparison between bottled or filtered water and tanker water makes this point concrete. However, the historical discussion about kings, wells and access is less directly connected to whether modern household supplies should be free, and the claim about water plants is not clearly explained. Develop the practical implications of free provision—for example, how it could be funded or how to ensure responsible use—and support each main reason with a clearer explanation or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, paragraphs presenting background and reasons, and a conclusion. The progression from water as a basic need to affordability for poorer families is generally understandable, and linking phrases such as “In comparison,” “Although” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. At times, however, the connection between ideas is not fully clear. The historical paragraph moves from unequal access in the past to modern water plants without explaining how this supports free household supply. The transition from that discussion to the affordability argument is also abrupt. Organise the body around distinct reasons and use clearer links to show how each paragraph supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “basic human need,” “public health,” “low income family” and “monthly earnings.” These choices help communicate the central argument, and terms such as “tanker water” add useful specificity. There are also some inaccurate or awkward choices that reduce precision, including “watery system,” “fill get mineral water” and “no lesser than a blessing.” Spelling errors such as “aroud,” “influencial” and “governements” are noticeable, though the intended meaning is generally recoverable. Aim for more natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for instance, describe municipal water infrastructure directly rather than using unclear phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use both simple statements and more complex forms, including the concessive clause “Although big cities have dirty water system” and the comparison beginning “whereas a low income family…”. Most sentences communicate their main meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. Examples include the missing article in “World is full,” the awkward construction “to fill get mineral water,” and the sentence fragment or punctuation problem in “free access to clean water protects public health,” which begins with a lowercase letter after a full stop. There are also issues with articles and number, such as “a low income family” and “every few kilometers of their town.” Review sentence boundaries, articles and plural forms, while continuing to use varied sentence structures.
