Student answer (Band 5.5)

As we all know, clean water is a basic human need. Therefore, some people believe that the government should provide a free supply of clean water to every household. I believe that clean water is essential for everyone's daily life. I partially agree with this statement because, although everyone should have access to clean water, water scarcity and pollution make it difficult for governments to provide it free of charge.

Firstly, clean water is a basic human right every household should have free water supply in their home. Whereas in today's world many countries face scarcity of water due to wastage of water in huge volume and polluted river caused by the industries,as a result government use machines such as huge filters to clean the water and then they take money in exchange of water in the form of water bills and taxes. Some poor families may struggle to pay water bills because of they can't afford fresh water and they end up using polluted water. Because of bad water quality poor peoples have some health issues and some minor digestive and other type of problems. Fresh water will prevent you from waterborne diseases as well as it keeps you health.

Secondly, as previously mention many countries have water scarcity problems cause by industries and wastage of water that makes water valuable and that is why not everyone is eligible to afford clean water in their houses. Furthermore, the goverments take advantage of this problem and it becomes a business for them and they charges money in exchange of water. However, because of several reasons now clean water is sound unreachable for poor families.

To conclude, fresh water is a basic need of humans as it's a improtant element is for our life. Water scarcity makes water expensive for poor families and they choose bad quality water instead. I partially agree with the statement that government should supply clean water in every household in free because it neccesity for every humans. Whereas government faces challenges to arrage fresh water.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear, though qualified, position: you “partially agree” because water scarcity and pollution make free provision difficult. The discussion is relevant and includes reasons such as treatment costs, water bills, and the risk that poorer families use polluted water. However, the response only partly resolves the question of whether every home should receive water free of charge. The first body paragraph says households “should have free water,” while later points focus on scarcity and governments charging for water, without clearly explaining what policy you support in practice. Some claims, such as governments taking advantage of scarcity, are asserted rather than supported. Develop the qualification by explaining, for example, whether a basic amount should be free while extra use is paid for.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly” and “To conclude” make the broad structure visible. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear: the first body paragraph moves from a human right to scarcity, treatment, bills, poverty and health without consistently showing how each point supports your position. The second paragraph repeats scarcity and the idea that water is expensive rather than adding a distinct reason. Some linking is awkward or confusing, particularly “Whereas in today’s world” and “Furthermore” before the claim about governments. Organise each paragraph around one main point, explain it in a logical sequence, and use references and transitions that make the relationship between ideas explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “water scarcity,” “polluted water,” “water bills,” “waterborne diseases” and “water quality,” so the reader can follow the subject. However, the range is limited by repeated use of “water,” “problem” and “poor families,” and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear. For example, “water is sound unreachable” does not express your meaning naturally, and “not everyone is eligible to afford” combines words in an unsuitable way. There are also spelling errors such as “goverments,” “improtant” and “neccesity.” Aim for more precise phrases and check spelling; this will make your argument clearer and more appropriate for an academic essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a concession in “although everyone should have access to clean water” and a cause-and-effect sentence beginning “because of several reasons.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “clean water is a basic human right every household should have free water supply” joins ideas without the necessary punctuation or grammatical link. Other examples include “they charges money,” “because of they can’t afford,” and “it’s a improtant element is for our life.” Work on subject–verb agreement, sentence boundaries, articles and clause structure. Shorter, accurately formed sentences would help you communicate your ideas more reliably while you build control of longer forms.
