Student answer (Band 6.0)

Water is an essential need of every human being. Access to clean water is a basic human right. Every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge. I agree to the given statement as no creature in the world would survive without water.

I believe that water plays an crucial role in our day to day life. We use water in every aspects of our lives like in cleaning, washing, drinking, cooking etc. We can see that every residents in the city area are paying for water supply which unacceptable. As it is being used in every work, people should be able to use it for free. However, people are obliged to pay for it and even in some city scarcity of drinking water still exist.

Moreover, even after living in a country which is rich in water resource, people are charged certain amount unless they are forbidden to use water. Certainly, this type of problem requires serious attention from the concerned authorities or government parties. If water supply is made free of charge alot of people would be able to drink it. Water that are provided to the locals should be clean and should be accessible to their home directly in a way that they would not need to go outside in the tap and wait in a line to fill up water in their tank.

In conclusion, it is our basic human right to be able to drink clean water with free of cost.If we are being deprived of this right we have the power to go against it and raise our voice to get water supply without paying for it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you agree that households should receive clean water without charge, and the conclusion restates this view. You also give relevant reasons, including water’s role in daily life and the difficulty of accessing it in some places. However, some points are asserted rather than explained. For example, saying that residents pay for water and that this is unacceptable does not explain how free provision could be funded or how it might affect conservation. The point about people having to wait at a tap is relevant, but its connection to free supply could be made clearer. Develop these ideas with specific reasoning or an example, and address the practical implications of your position more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The paragraphs generally group related ideas, and transitions such as “Moreover” and “In conclusion” help signal the progression. However, some connections between claims are not fully clear. For instance, the discussion moves from water being free to the need for clean water to be delivered directly to homes, without explaining how these points relate. The repeated use of “water” and “people” also makes the flow somewhat mechanical, while “However” introduces a contrast that is not developed. Use clearer links between each reason and your main position, and vary referencing so the reader can follow the argument more smoothly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the topic and your position, including relevant terms such as “basic human right,” “water supply,” “scarcity” and “concerned authorities.” There are also attempts to express more specific ideas about access and provision. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “in every work,” “rich in water resource,” and “forbidden to use water.” “Alot” is also incorrectly written as one word. These choices do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Build a stronger range of topic-specific collocations and check whether each phrase expresses the intended meaning, especially when discussing payment, availability and household access.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple statements and longer sentences, including a conditional structure in “If water supply is made free of charge, a lot of people would be able to drink it.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. Examples include “an crucial role” (article agreement), “every aspects” and “every residents” (number agreement), and “which unacceptable” (missing verb). There are also errors in sentence construction, as in “with free of cost,” and punctuation is missing after the final full stop’s preceding sentence. Review articles, singular and plural agreement, and complete clause structure. More consistently accurate complex sentences would make your argument easier to read.
