Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, it is often argued that access to clean water is a basic human right that should be supplied to every home free of charge. I strongly agree with this view because water is the basic neccessity of life which is topmost need for survival and it is a right of every human to be provided basic needs by government.
The first reason why i agree to the given statement is that clean water is the basic neccessity which should be provided free of charge. This is mainly because every human has a right to get easy access to their basic needs. Water is a basic need as it has a great use in everyday life such as water used in cooking, for washing, for drinking, and for many other purposes. We can say that there is a massive use of water in our life and a basic need so, it should be provided free of charge.
Another reason is that as the water is a basic need, so it should be provided by government free of charge because people pay tax to government. People should struggle for their living but it is their right to get basic needs free of charge. For example, in a well konwn country USA, every individual is ought to get clean water and basic health treatement free of cost by government. It will keep the morale high of people, also good thoughts for government.
In conclusion, i completely agree with the given statement because it is a basic need and it is a right of people to get their basic needs fulfill free of charge.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear from the introduction (“I strongly agree”) and is maintained in the conclusion. You give relevant reasons, including water’s everyday uses and the idea that governments should provide basic needs. However, the response addresses the issue only partially: the reasons are repeated rather than fully explained, and the claim that people pay taxes does not show how a free household supply could be funded or managed. The USA example is also asserted without detail or support, and it shifts briefly to free health treatment rather than focusing on water. Develop each reason with a specific explanation or credible example, and clarify whether you mean unlimited free water or a basic household allowance.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting reasons, and a conclusion. The sequence is easy to follow, and signposts such as “The first reason,” “Another reason,” and “In conclusion” help identify the stages of the argument. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and the same point—that water is a basic need and should be free—is repeated in several paragraphs without adding much progression. Some links are awkward, particularly “because people pay tax to government” followed by “People should struggle for their living.” Improve the flow by making each paragraph develop a distinct point and by using clearer links between claims and explanations rather than relying mainly on formulaic transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main argument, including “clean water,” “basic needs,” “free of charge,” and “everyday life.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are repeated, especially “basic need” and “provided free of charge.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “neccessity,” “konwn,” and “treatement,” as well as unnatural phrases like “topmost need for survival” and “keep the morale high of people.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding your position, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Build a wider set of accurate collocations for public services, access, and funding, and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mixture of simple statements and some longer sentences, and the main meaning is generally clear. There are, however, some recurring errors in sentence construction and grammatical control. For example, “Water is a basic need as it has a great use” is awkwardly structured, while “because people pay tax to government” is missing articles or more natural phrasing. The sentence beginning “Another reason is that as the water is a basic need, so…” combines linking structures incorrectly. Capitalisation is also inconsistent in “i” and “government.” To improve, practise building complex sentences with one clear linking pattern at a time, and check articles, sentence boundaries, and capital letters during proofreading.
