Student answer (Band 5.5)

I agree to the statement "Access to clean water is a basic human right. Therefore every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge. ".

My reason to support the answer is that clean water is not a "want" but its a "need" and its bare minimum for every human to survive. Without water the body cant survive for long as proven scientifically.

Our planet consists of 70% water and that is enough if properly used to provide every human with free water for tthe rest of their lives.

There are increasing deaths in the word due to scarcity of water and i feel that is ruthless to deprive the human of such a basic need.

There are alot of people in the world that cant afford to pay water bills and hence end up drinking contaminated water that affects their health in th long run.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) should take matters in their own hand and provide free water supply to atleast the people who are not able to access it by paying for it.

A human body consists of 70% water, as studied by science a human can survive without food for days but he might not be able to survive for long if he is deprived of water, due to water bills many have been suffering from illnesses or end up losing their lives which can easily be prevented by supplying free water to every home.

In concusion i feel that every human deserves to have the freedom of drinking clean water at will and i agree with the above statement that every homme deserves free water supply.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the opening and conclusion: you agree that every home should receive clean water free of charge. You give relevant reasons, including water’s necessity for survival, the health risks of contaminated water, and the hardship faced by people unable to afford bills. These points address the task, but they are not developed evenly. For example, the claim that the planet’s water supply is sufficient “if properly used” needs explanation, and the WHO proposal shifts from free provision for every home to helping only people who cannot pay. Clarify how your proposal would work and support key claims with a specific example. The response meets the stated length requirement; the 23 words copied from the prompt are excluded from the count.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a recognisable overall sequence: it states your view, presents reasons, and ends with a conclusion. However, the ideas are mostly placed in separate, unstructured lines rather than developed in clear paragraphs, so the progression is difficult to follow. Several points also repeat one another: water is essential for survival in the second paragraph and again in the discussion of the human body’s water content. The link between the WHO proposal and your broader claim that every home should receive free water is not made clear. Group related reasons into body paragraphs, use topic sentences, and explain how each example supports your position. More deliberate transitions would make the argument easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the central argument, including relevant terms such as “scarcity,” “contaminated water,” “water bills,” and “basic need.” Some attempts at more formal or emphatic language, such as “deprive” and “ruthless,” show an effort to express the seriousness of the issue, though “ruthless” is not a natural fit in this context. There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, including “alot,” “th,” and “concusion,” which reduce accuracy. Phrases such as “free water” are repeated often; varying them with precise expressions would improve the range. Aim for accurate collocations and proofread spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Your writing communicates its main meaning, and you attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, for example the sentence beginning “There are alot of people…” and the final extended explanation about water bills. However, control is uneven, particularly in longer sentences, where several ideas are joined without clear punctuation. There are errors in sentence boundaries and apostrophes, as in “its a ‘need’” and “cant survive,” as well as awkward constructions such as “My reason to support the answer is that…”. The sentence beginning “A human body consists…” also becomes difficult to manage as it continues. Practise building accurate complex sentences with clear clauses, and check apostrophes, articles, and punctuation.
