Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you support free access to clean water, and you give relevant reasons, including the risks of water-borne disease and the danger of contaminated supplies. You also add a qualification by saying that wasteful use should be fined. However, the response only partially develops the task. It does not explain how a free household supply could be funded or distinguish a basic amount of water from unlimited use, and several points repeat the general claim that water is essential. The reference to pollution from oil and gas production is relevant but is not clearly connected to why household water should be free. Develop two or three reasons with specific explanations or examples, and maintain a clear distinction between access and responsible use.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is an identifiable opening, supporting discussion and concluding position, and expressions such as “Therefore” and “In conclusion” signal relationships between ideas. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the response is presented in long, loosely connected blocks rather than clearly focused paragraphs. The conclusion appears before much of the supporting discussion, and ideas about pollution, disease, affordability and fines are introduced without a consistent sequence. Linking phrases are also sometimes mechanical or attached to incomplete transitions, as in “Considering, the toxic and harmful chemicals…”. Organise the essay into an introduction, separate body paragraphs with one main point each, and a final conclusion. Use referencing and linking words to show how each example supports your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “water-borne disease,” “harmful chemicals,” “source of income” and “contagious disease,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “fundamental human right.” However, the range is limited by repeated use of “clean water,” “society” and “free,” while several choices or combinations are unnatural or unclear: “trusted clean water,” “neatness of waters,” “dirts in the air” and “put for every house hold.” These expressions sometimes make the intended meaning harder to understand. Aim for precise collocations and avoid repeating the same general terms; for example, use “safe drinking water,” “water quality” and “households” where appropriate. Check word forms and spelling as well as meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional construction beginning “In an instance where…” and a contrast introduced by “However.” Nevertheless, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence boundaries, articles, agreement and verb forms sometimes make the message difficult to follow. Examples include “Without a trusted clean water,” “there could be an outbreak … which is a threat,” and “Consequences of negligence to water is a danger.” Several sentences run together without appropriate punctuation, while “Therefore, every family” and “In conclusion, there” also show missing spacing after commas. Practise building complete sentences around one main idea, then check subject–verb agreement, articles and punctuation. More accurate control of these patterns would make your complex ideas clearer.
