Student answer (Band 5.0)

Water is the basic human right. Therefore every home should have a water supply that is provided free by Goverment because water is the most important part of our life and In many cities they were no more supply of water.for example in lahore the supply of water to the public is not developed very well.

Here is the few points which is agree that the water is free for us. The point is that the water is much free for poor people because they can not afford the high quality water and also Goverment should provide wster supply to the poor houses and other who need water supplies. The poor peoples fill the water by watertank so goverment also provide water filter in the area where the poor lives. The poors were not buythe high quality water that is why this free for poor people.

The point which disagree us that the water is not free for people because if the water were free the people waste the lot of water and use it any time. Also in our country they were a lack of water in our country they were no more dams and rivers to save water so the when Goverment provide free water for peoples they waste it and use in everytime this is the big problem.

In my opinion the Goverment provide free water to the poors peoples and provide water supply in every home and aslo provide a limit water in a limit time or limit use if everyone waste water Goverment should action on it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address the question and give a qualified position: you support free water for poorer households, while suggesting limits to prevent waste. The points about affordability and water scarcity are relevant, and Lahore is offered as an example. However, the response only partially develops the argument: the example is brief, and the reasons for providing water to every home free of charge are not clearly distinguished from targeted support for poor people. Your position also shifts between free provision for everyone and free provision only for poorer people. The response is 246 words, four words below the 250-word minimum; the 15 words copied from the task prompt are not counted. Develop the example and state your position consistently to address the task more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction to supporting points, a counterargument and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the main stages of your answer. However, there is no clear overall progression within the body paragraphs: several ideas are repeated, such as the need to provide water to poor households, and the discussion of free water and water limits is not linked smoothly. Connectors such as “The point is” and “The point which disagree us” are repetitive or unclear, while “also” is used repeatedly. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, explain it, and use clearer references and transitions to show how the ideas relate.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough basic vocabulary to communicate the main topic, including “poor people,” “water supply,” “waste,” and “lack of water.” Some topic-related expressions, such as “water filter” and “dams and rivers,” help make the discussion relevant. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, particularly “free water” and “provide water.” There are also noticeable word-choice, collocation and spelling problems, including “the water is much free,” “the poors,” “Goverment,” and “wster.” These sometimes make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Build a wider set of accurate expressions for affordability, public provision and conservation, and check spelling and natural word combinations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example by using “because” to explain why water should be provided and “if” to describe the risk of waste. This shows an effort to go beyond isolated simple statements. However, the range remains limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. Examples include “Here is the few points which is agree” and “if the water were free the people waste the lot of water”; these contain problems with agreement and verb forms. Articles, plurals and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “Water is the basic human right” and the run-on opening sentence. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly controlled subordinate clause, then check agreement, tense and punctuation.
