Student answer (Band 5.5)
I agree with this statement, as we need to provide water supply to all the people as free of charge . Every person in democratic India has the right to have access to clean water. It is a basic human right. Water is a universal matter. It does not belong to anyone in the world. Since it has been originated when the earth come to the excistence. No one has the right to take water as their own property.
Government is nothing but of the people, for the people and by the people. Hence, they need to provide every home with a water supply free of charge. No one has the authority to allot the amount for drinking water.
In some cases, drinking water is sold for certain prices in shops. When we question that, the shopkeepers tell us that the price is only for the bottle and not for the water itself. If you look into the case deeply, they are trying to sell the water in the name of a water bottle. As you look into the mess, it will lead to the draining of all the groundwater for their profitable sale, which results in a decrease in groundwater and unavailability of water for agriculture.
If we go like this, it will result in scarcity of water for future generations.
One real-life case study is that at Cochabamba, water is sold to the residential people by the private companies at high cost which are not affordable by the people. This resulted in the water war in during that period.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the opening: you agree that households should receive water without charge, and you give relevant reasons involving equal access, groundwater depletion and future scarcity. The Cochabamba example also supports your concern about private companies charging unaffordable prices. These points address the task, but they are not all developed equally. For instance, the claim that water “does not belong to anyone” is asserted rather than explained, and the discussion of bottled water does not fully establish why household water supply should be free. Clarify what “free” means in practice—for example, whether basic household use is free while excessive use is charged—and explain how governments could fund and maintain the supply. This would make the argument more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable progression: it states a position, gives a principle-based reason, discusses commercial water sales and their consequences, and ends with an example. Paragraph breaks help separate these points. However, the overall development is somewhat mechanical, with several short statements and repeated transitions such as “Hence,” “If you look into the case,” and “If we go like this.” The connection between bottled water sales and the provision of piped water to every home also needs to be made more explicit. The final Cochabamba example arrives abruptly and would work better in a paragraph that explains how it supports your argument. Use clearer topic sentences and link each example directly to the claim it illustrates.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “groundwater,” “agriculture,” “scarcity,” “private companies” and “human right,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “unavailability of water” and “profitable sale.” However, several word choices and collocations are unnatural or imprecise, including “water is a universal matter,” “allot the amount for drinking water,” and “water war in during that period.” Spelling errors such as “excistence” are noticeable, and “residential people” is not the natural term in this context. Aim for precise, conventional expressions—for example, “a universal resource,” “set a price for drinking water,” and “local residents”—and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple statements and longer sentences, including a conditional structure in “If we go like this, it will result in scarcity of water for future generations.” The main argument is generally understandable, but some sentence structures and verb forms are inaccurate. For example, “Since it has been originated when the earth come” is an incomplete dependent clause and has incorrect tense construction; it could be joined to the previous sentence and expressed with a suitable past-tense verb. In “provide water supply to all the people as free of charge,” the article and sentence pattern need correction. The final sentence, “This resulted in the water war in during that period,” also contains a faulty construction. Review clause formation, tense consistency and articles, while continuing to practise accurate complex sentences.
