Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You take a relevant position: you argue that clean water should be free because it is essential and some people cannot afford it. The example about patients with stomach and intestinal illnesses also supports your concern about unsafe water. However, the response addresses the issue only partially: it does not explain clearly how a free household supply should be funded or managed, and the ideas are brief rather than developed. The conclusion calls for government action but does not fully clarify what policy you support. The response is also 54 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop your reasons and examples. Explain your position more fully and add a specific example or practical consideration.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is a basic line of progression from water as a necessity, to affordability, to health risks, and finally to government responsibility. This helps the reader identify your main argument. However, the response is presented as one continuous block, so the separate reasons and conclusion are not clearly signposted. Connections between ideas are sometimes abrupt, and the repeated use of “so” makes the linking feel mechanical. For example, the shift from affordability to the hospital example could be made clearer with a new paragraph and a transition explaining that unsafe water also creates wider health costs. Use distinct paragraphs for your position, each supporting reason, and your conclusion, with clear but varied linking phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary such as “clean water,” “poverty rate,” “health problems,” and “basic needs,” so the central message can be understood. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the reader work to interpret the meaning. Phrases such as “free of change,” “strict actions,” and “the root-cause … is can be dirty water” do not express the intended ideas naturally. Spelling errors, including “essantial,” “survivel,” and “goverment,” are frequent and further reduce clarity. Build a small set of accurate expressions for discussing affordability, public health, and government provision, and check spelling carefully before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example when explaining that people may struggle to meet basic needs and when linking dirty water with illness. However, sentence structures are limited, and attempts at complex sentences often contain errors that make the relationships between ideas unclear. Examples include “A living human needs some basic…” and “if humans are not able of get there basic needs,” where articles, verb patterns, and sentence construction need attention. There are also problems with sentence boundaries and punctuation, such as the run-on opening and the lowercase start after a full stop. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using clauses such as “because” and “which,” checking verb forms and punctuation.
