Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the assertion clean water should be accessible to every human is their baisc right. Although, there are compelling arguement on both sides I strongly agree with this statement primarily because it is essential for living and can prevent many diseases.
I agree with the statement mainly because drinking clean water is necessary for living. To further accentuate it, every living being needs clean water to survive and without water one can only survive only upto 4 to 5 days. For instance , a specific example of this can be seen in the survey conducted in the UK stated that many people lost their lives in deserts due to lack of water.Hence, this paragraph justifies my first reason.
Equally significant reason for my view point is that it helps in preventing many diseases. In other words , drinking clean water can prevent as well as cure diseases like dysentery.A pertinent example of this can be seen in the survey conducted in Canada last year stated that after giving access of clean water to everyone there was drastic fall in number of patients of waterborne diseases. Thus , this paragraph justifies my second reason for my agreement with the given statement.
In the conclusion,I partly agree that clean water should be accessable to humans and it is their right mainly because it is essential for living and can prevent many harmful diseases.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a clear main position in the introduction and support it with two relevant reasons: clean water is necessary for survival and can reduce waterborne disease. The examples about deaths in deserts and fewer patients after access to clean water help illustrate these points. However, the response only partly addresses the task because it focuses on why clean water matters, rather than explaining whether household water should be provided free of charge and how that policy could work. The conclusion also says “I partly agree,” which conflicts with the strong agreement stated earlier. The response is below the required 250 words, so the ideas remain limited and under-developed. Develop the affordability and provision aspect, clarify your position, and extend each reason with explanation or a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each body paragraph presents one reason, and signposts such as “Equally significant” and “In other words” make the intended progression visible. However, the organisation is somewhat mechanical: phrases such as “Hence, this paragraph justifies my first reason” and “Thus, this paragraph justifies my second reason” repeat the same function instead of advancing the argument. Some links are also awkwardly attached to the following sentence, and the conclusion’s “partly agree” does not follow the introduction’s strong agreement. Use clearer transitions between claims and evidence, and make the final paragraph consistently reflect the position developed throughout.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “clean water,” “survive,” “diseases,” and “waterborne diseases,” and you attempt more formal expressions such as “pertinent example” and “drastic fall.” However, the range is limited and several choices or forms are inaccurate or unnatural, including “access of clean water,” “view point,” and “essential for living.” Spelling errors such as “baisc,” “arguement,” and “accessable” are noticeable and reduce the overall control of vocabulary. Some phrases, including “this paragraph justifies my reason,” sound formulaic rather than natural. Aim for precise collocations and check spelling; for example, describe people as having “access to clean water” and refer to a “sharp decline in cases.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a concessive opening and clauses introduced by “because” and “that.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but errors occur in sentence boundaries, articles, and clause construction. For example, “Although, there are compelling arguement on both sides” is not correctly punctuated and has an agreement problem, while “a survey conducted in the UK stated that many people lost their lives” is an awkwardly constructed reporting clause. There are also missing spaces after punctuation and inconsistent comma use, as in “living. To further.” These issues sometimes make the reader pause. Practise building accurate sentences around one main claim and supporting clause, and proofread punctuation and agreement.
