Student answer (Band 5.5)

Water is the fundamental necessity of human life and without water no life can exist on our earth like all the other planets. Our earth is the only planet which has carried a lot of facilities for living environment. Water is ubiquotous as it found everywhere even though our human body is composed of almost 70% of water.

Water is absolutely significant for existance. Every living thing requires water for living purposes and we all should drink clean filtered water because contaminated water effects our body a lot and sometimes cause severe medical complications if plenty of contaminated water has been drunk for a while. For Instance, Dysentry, Diarrhea, jaundice and severe bowel movements are included if adequate amout of water with the amalgamation of waste materials has taken.

Once I saw a person having sudden medical complications just beacause of drinking unfiltered water. In that days the sewage conditions near our home was very undefined and that water was going to mix with the domestic pipelines. It was happened once in a blue moon but for us it was obviously a blue sky. Physician has identified a death stage for him but god blessed him with a healthy life. After all this, he never tried dirty and unfiltered water for any dirinking, cooking or cleaning purposes.

In conclusion, I would rather say that our government should to take an eye on the sewage conditions of every city so that acess to clean water can become possibe and quick for everyone. Moreover, we should have cost free access to water for drinking.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You establish that clean water is essential and conclude that people should have free access to drinking water, so your response is relevant to the topic. However, the position on the specific proposal—that every home should receive its water supply free of charge—is not consistently clear. Much of the essay explains why clean water matters, rather than weighing whether household water should be free. The personal example about illness from unfiltered water supports the need for safe water, but it does not explain why the supply should be free or address practical considerations such as public costs. State your agreement or disagreement directly in the introduction, then develop reasons that specifically support that position and connect each example to it.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable paragraph structure: it introduces water, explains health risks, gives a personal example, and ends with a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the broad topic. However, progression between ideas is limited: the first paragraph repeats the importance of water, while the later paragraphs focus on contamination without clearly building an argument about free household supply. Some linking expressions, such as “After all this” and “Moreover,” do not make the relationship between points precise. The anecdote also occupies a large part of the response without being tied back to the central question. Organise the body around two distinct reasons for your position, use clear topic sentences, and make references and transitions show how each point advances the argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “contaminated,” “medical complications,” “sewage conditions,” and “domestic pipelines.” These choices show an effort to discuss water quality and public health beyond very basic terms. However, inaccurate word choice, spelling, and collocation are noticeable and sometimes make meaning difficult to interpret. Examples include “ubiquotous,” “existance,” “effects our body,” and “a death stage”; the intended meanings are not always immediately clear. Some expressions, such as “it was obviously a blue sky,” appear to misuse idiomatic language. Aim for accurate, natural phrasing rather than adding uncommon words: for example, use “widespread,” “affects our health,” and “in critical condition.” Proofread spelling and check collocations in a dictionary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple statements and attempts at longer sentences, including a conditional clause beginning “if contaminated water has been drunk.” However, the range is limited, and complex constructions are often faulty. For example, “Water is ubiquitous as it found everywhere” is missing a verb, while “our government should to take” uses an incorrect verb pattern. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and tense, as in “Physician has identified” and “It was happened once.” These errors recur and can make the reader pause to work out the intended meaning. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a subordinate clause, and check verb forms, subject–verb agreement, and articles before attempting longer structures.
