Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
Your position is clear: you strongly agree that homes should receive clean water free of charge. You give relevant reasons, including preventing waterborne illness, promoting equality, supporting children’s health and education, and improving economic productivity. However, these points are mostly asserted rather than explained or supported with specific examples; for instance, the link between free provision and equality needs clarification. The conclusion briefly acknowledges the budget and government responsibility, but does not develop this counterpoint or explain how it affects your position. The response also does not meet the required minimum length, so there is limited space to develop the argument. Extend each main reason with explanation or a relevant example, and address the cost issue more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable overall shape: an introduction, a sequence of supporting points, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “First of all,” “furthermore,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” helps show how the ideas relate. However, the progression is not consistently clear: several reasons are crowded together without distinct paragraphing, and the shift from public health to equality and then children’s education is abrupt. Some linking is mechanical, while the conclusion introduces government responsibility without connecting it clearly to the earlier argument. Use separate body paragraphs for related points, and make each paragraph develop one central idea with a clear explanation and example. This would make the organisation easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “public health,” “polluted water,” “fatal diseases,” “economic benefits,” and “national development.” These choices show an attempt to discuss the issue beyond very basic terms. However, the range is limited and several spelling errors or imprecise expressions make the writing harder to read, such as “acess,” “waterbone,” “nessaccity,” and “economical benefits.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “a sign of equality among common public” and “public awareness should be needed.” Aim for accurate spelling and more natural collocations, such as “equal access for all” and “raise public awareness.” Building a small set of precise water- and policy-related phrases would help you express your ideas more clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, for example the sentence linking a healthier population with economic growth. The main ideas are generally understandable, but the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to interrupt the flow. In “water is a basic necessity and life without water would be unimaginable,” the ideas need clearer punctuation or a conjunction. The final sentence also has an unclear structure, particularly around “although it will require a huge budget also government responsibility will increase.” Work on joining clauses accurately, using punctuation to separate complete ideas, and checking subject–verb agreement and articles. Practising a few reliable complex patterns will help you express cause, contrast, and consequence more accurately.
