Student answer (Band 5.5)

Water is as important as oxygen for living. Among all human rights, it is the most basic right to have clean water at home. A free of charge water supply is essential for daily household chores and usage because water makes most of the composition of our Earth. Existance without water is impossible and fresh water is fundamental for our survival.

Every home must have a free water supply giving access to clean and filtered water. From drinking to kitchen and everyday work, water is a universal entity. Having water without impurities contributes to overall health of individuals specially infants who are growing, need water just like a plant requires water to grow. No human activity is possible without water so it must be free to use by people.

For example in Pakistan, access to clean water in Balochistan and other rural areas is the biggest issue. Water scarcity has now become a national issue with WASH projects been launched by multiple NGOs and governoment taking initiatives to ensure clean water is available to all.

Every home must have free of charge water because it generates electricity and is the core requirement of every task. Access to free water is not only vital for health but also for all other areas of life. This water supply can be provided by the stakeholders and custodians of the human rights. WASH activists can play a great role to ensure free water reaches to every individual home.

Hence low income families can benefit alot from free water and it contributes to economic growth of a country as more water means more electricity. It is a basic resource which regenerates bigger resources, runs industries, institutions and consumed everyday so just like oxygen it must be accessible to everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you agree that households should receive clean water without charge, and you give relevant reasons involving health, daily needs and affordability for low-income families. The example of water scarcity in Balochistan also helps connect the argument to a real context. However, several points are asserted rather than explained. For instance, the claim that free water supports economic growth because it produces more electricity needs a clearer link to household water provision, and the roles of NGOs, government and “custodians” are mentioned without showing how they would fund or deliver a free service. Develop fewer reasons in more depth, and clarify whether you mean a basic free allowance or unlimited free use.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an identifiable structure, moving from the importance of water to health, a country example and a concluding restatement of your view. Paragraph breaks help separate these points. However, the overall progression is not always clear: the ideas about electricity and economic growth appear in more than one paragraph, while the discussion of WASH projects does not clearly lead to the next point. Linking phrases such as “For example” and “Hence” are used, but connections between claims are sometimes asserted rather than explained. Organise each body paragraph around one main reason, then show how the example supports it. Clearer referencing and less repetition of “water” and “free” would also improve flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “water scarcity,” “impurities,” “low income families” and “economic growth,” so the reader can follow the subject. There are also attempts at more formal expressions such as “fundamental for our survival.” However, the range is limited by repeated use of “water,” “free” and “must,” and some combinations are unnatural or imprecise. For example, “water makes most of the composition of our Earth” does not express the intended idea naturally, while “universal entity” is vague in this context. Spelling errors such as “Existance,” “governoment” and “alot” are noticeable. Choose more precise collocations and check spelling carefully to make your argument clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both short statements and longer sentences, including a reason clause in “because water makes…” and a relative clause in “families can benefit…”. The main position remains understandable, but control is uneven, particularly in longer constructions. For example, “Water scarcity has now become a national issue with WASH projects been launched” has a faulty verb form; “who are growing, need water” lacks a clear grammatical connection; and “runs industries, institutions and consumed everyday” does not maintain parallel structure. There are also article and sentence-boundary problems, as in “A free of charge water supply.” Practise building accurate complex sentences and check that subjects, verbs and coordinated items follow consistent patterns.
