Student answer (Band 5.0)

Having access to safe drinking water is a fundamental human right.therefore, every household should be supplied with eater at no cost. From my perspective, providing free access to clean water is a beneficial and necessary measure.

One major, reason is that clean water is essential for human health. Without safe drinking water caues more diseases, people suffer from waterborne diseases.

For example, families have limited income for their necessary. they don't afford sufficient clean and safe water.

Therefore providing affortable clean or safe water can help protect public health.

Another essential reason is that free water can reduce financial pressure low income families

These families have often need to spend their limited income on food, education and other expenses

For instance, households living in poverty may find its difficult to pay regular water bills

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You take a clear position in favour of free water, and both reasons—protecting health and easing pressure on low-income households—are relevant to the question. However, the response addresses the task only minimally: the reasons are stated but not sufficiently explained or supported, and the second point ends with “Consequently” without completing the thought. The example about families being unable to afford clean water is also unclear and does not show how free provision would work. The response contains 135 words, so it does not meet the required minimum of 250. Develop each reason with a clear explanation and a specific example, and finish with a conclusion that restates your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: the opening states your view, followed by separate points about health and household finances. Linking expressions such as “For example,” “Therefore,” and “Consequently” show an effort to connect ideas. However, progression is incomplete because the final paragraph stops at “Consequently,” leaving the second argument unfinished. Some links also do not clearly express the relationship between sentences, and the ideas within the health paragraph are difficult to follow. Use complete paragraphs with a clear topic sentence, explanation, and example, then add a concluding paragraph. Check that each linking word accurately signals the connection you intend.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “fundamental human right,” “safe drinking water,” “waterborne diseases,” and “financial pressure.” These phrases show an attempt to discuss the issue specifically. However, the range is limited and some word choices or forms make the meaning unclear, such as “eater,” “caues more diseases,” “their necessary,” and “affortable.” “Free water” is also repeated; more precise alternatives could distinguish between free household supply and affordable access. Build a wider set of accurate collocations for public health, household costs, and water provision, and proofread spelling and word forms. This would make your ideas easier to understand and more precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response includes some simple sentence patterns and attempts to connect clauses, for example, “Without safe drinking water caues more diseases, people suffer from waterborne diseases.” However, sentence structures are limited, and frequent errors in sentence formation, agreement, articles, and punctuation sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. The opening joins two sentences incorrectly after “human right,” while “These families have often need to spend” has an incorrect verb pattern. The sentence beginning “For example” also shifts abruptly between plural families and “they.” Practise writing complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and use a small range of accurate complex forms, such as clauses beginning with “because” or “which.”
