Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the modern era, individuals are having taps at there home to get water. Usage of clean water is a common right of citizens. So every locality must have the access of water supply which is free of cost. This essay will articulate the perspectives of my disagreement in forthcoming paragraph.

To commence with my first view, individuals are using water in wrong way. To elaborate further on this point, netizens left the taps open while brushing their teeth or at the time of bathing. For instance, My neighbour who were use to waste water by lefing tap open during brush his teeth in basin moreover it was careless about the usage of water which is very awful. Consiquently, water supply is decreasing because the supply of water is limited and many of the poor individuals are not getting sufficient supply of water at there locality because they have dry lands where the supply of water is likely to hard to get.

Moreover, local authority should have to include charges on the supply of water. To be more precise, netizens can use water when they want. A clear example of this would be, in my locality people were use to waste water unneccessarily in the society, after seeing this types of situation by local government, municipal corporation had included charges and also they had included fine while wasting the water. As a result, people had stopped to waste water and understand about the proper usage of water at there homes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is identifiable: you disagree with free household water, arguing that charges can discourage waste. The examples about leaving taps running and the municipality introducing charges are relevant to water use. However, the response only partly addresses the central question of whether every home should receive a free supply. It does not clearly distinguish access to a basic amount of clean water as a right from charging for excessive use, and the point about poor communities lacking supply is not connected to a clear solution. The introduction also says the essay will explain your disagreement, but the argument needs fuller development and a more direct conclusion. Clarifying this distinction and supporting each main reason would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall arrangement: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a sequence of supporting examples. Linking phrases such as “To commence with,” “Moreover,” and “As a result” help signal the stages of the argument. However, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow. The first body paragraph moves from careless use of water to limited supply and poor communities without explaining how these points connect. Some transitions, including “To elaborate further on this point,” introduce examples but do not make the reasoning clearer. The response also ends without a concluding paragraph that restates the position. Organise each paragraph around one reason, then explain how its example supports your view.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “water supply,” “charges,” “municipal corporation,” and “proper usage,” so the reader can follow the general subject. However, the range is limited and several choices are unnatural or imprecise, such as “individuals are having taps,” “access of water supply,” and “waste water unneccessarily.” “Netizens” is not appropriate for residents in this context, and repeated use of “water” and “supply” makes the argument less varied. Spelling errors such as “Consiquently,” “lefing,” and “unneccessarily” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of expressions for household water access, conservation, and pricing, and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “because” and “while,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in verb forms and agreement appear in “My neighbour who were use to waste water” and “people were use to waste water.” Other examples include “at there home,” “the supply of water is likely to hard to get,” and “municipal corporation had included charges,” where sentence structure, articles, or verb patterns are faulty. These problems sometimes make the reader pause to interpret the intended meaning. Practise forming accurate past-tense examples and use straightforward sentence patterns before adding subordinate clauses. Also check subject–verb agreement and the difference between “there” and “their.”
