Student answer (Band 5.5)
Access to clean water is a basic human right. So,Therefore every home should have a water supply that is provided free of cost by the government.I strongly agree, that clean water is a basic human need and it should be provided free of cost by the government and related departments.
Clean water is a basic human need and it is very important for the health of the humans.Drinking water which was not properly filtered will be injourious to human health because water contains different types of bacterias and fungus in it.So thats why water should be cleaned properly before drinking but this is the responsibilty of the water related departments to ensure the passage of clean water which will be benifical for the human lifes and thier metabolism.Drinking un cleaned water sometimes directly disturbs the stomach and major source of diseases like cough, fever and hepatitus.for example,In rural areas the number ofdisease like hepatitus was observed more because of unhealthy water.
secondly, free water supply will help to reduce poverty in different areas because people spends to much of their income for food, bills, and and for paying different taxs. So,the expense of buying clean water will increase their tension and they will face an extra pressure. So government should supply free clean water to all thier citizens regardless of its financial status. This would ensure that everyone enjoys the same basic human right and lives with dignity.
In conclusion,I strongly agree that government should provide clean water at a zero cost to ensure the saftey and dignity of thier citizens.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: you strongly agree that government departments should provide clean water without charge, and you return to this view in the conclusion. You give relevant reasons about health and the financial burden on poorer households, with an example referring to hepatitis in rural areas. However, the health argument is developed more fully than the affordability argument, which would benefit from a specific illustration or explanation of how free provision would help households. The example is also asserted rather than supported. The response is 235 words, so it is 15 words below the 250-word minimum; the 22 words copied from the prompt are not included in that count. Develop the second reason and add a relevant supporting detail.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow your main position. However, progression within sentences is sometimes difficult to track, particularly in the long health paragraph, where several claims are joined together. The opening phrase “So,Therefore” repeats a linking function, and “secondly” is not capitalised after the paragraph break. Some transitions, such as “So thats why” and repeated uses of “So,” feel mechanical. Use clearer topic sentences, divide long explanations into shorter units, and connect each example directly to the point it supports. This would make the organisation more consistently clear and reduce the effort needed to follow the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “basic human right,” “filtered,” “poverty,” “financial status,” and “lives with dignity.” These choices communicate the main ideas, but the range is limited by repetition of “clean water,” “free,” and “government,” and some expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “water related departments,” “human lifes,” and “extra pressure.” Spelling errors—including “injurious,” “responsibility,” “beneficial,” and “hepatitis”—also make the writing less polished and can occasionally slow the reader. Aim for accurate topic-specific collocations and vary repeated terms where appropriate. Proofreading spelling and choosing more natural phrases would make your meaning clearer and more precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a relative clause in “water which will be beneficial.” The main message is generally understandable, but errors in sentence boundaries, agreement, articles, and verb forms occur often enough to affect fluency. For example, “the health of the humans” and “people spends” show problems with articles and subject–verb agreement, while “Drinking water which was not properly filtered will be…” shifts awkwardly between past and future forms. Several sentences run together without appropriate punctuation, especially in the first body paragraph. Practise building accurate complex sentences, checking that subjects and verbs agree, and separating complete ideas with full stops. More consistent control would improve readability.
