Student answer (Band 5.5)

Availability of fresh water is a basic human right, So every house should be provided with supply of clean water without any cost. I agree with this statement because good quality water one of the most necessary resource to live a healthy life.

Firstly We know that water is a fundamental and most important natrual resource to have a quality life. According to World Health Organization (WHO) and Other Health institutes recommend 2 to 3 liters of water intake per day to every human to have healthy and strong immune system but all of this matters and impacts when accessible in fresh and good quality. This can be proved by discussing the situation of Sudan since the start of 2026 there has water and food crisis and many people have lost their lives due to lack of pure and clean water availbility.

Another important factor is social equality. Governments collect taxes in order to provide essential public services, including water supply systems. By ensuring that all citizens have free access to clean water, authorities can reduce inequality and improve overall living standards. In many developed countries, public water systems allow people to access clean water easily in homes and public spaces, regardless of their financial situation.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that governments should provide free access to clean water, as it is a fundamental human need and a key factor in promoting equality and improving quality of life

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear from the introduction and conclusion: you agree that clean water should be provided without charge. You give two relevant reasons—health and social equality—and the Sudan example helps illustrate the consequences of limited access. However, the response does not fully develop the argument: the health paragraph focuses on recommended water intake but does not explain why households should receive it free, and the equality paragraph makes broad claims without a specific example. The response is also 11 words below the required minimum, so it does not meet the task’s length requirement. Develop each reason with a clearer link to free household provision and add supporting detail.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted by “Firstly” and “Another important factor,” and a conclusion that restates your view. The ideas generally progress from health to equality, making the response easy to follow. Some connections are less clear: the WHO recommendation about daily intake is not explicitly linked to the case for free supply, and “This can be proved” introduces the Sudan example without explaining the connection in detail. The conclusion is relevant but brief. To strengthen cohesion, use linking sentences that show how each example supports your position, and make references between claims and evidence more explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “fundamental,” “social equality,” “public services,” and “living standards,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “accessible” and “financial situation.” However, several word-choice and spelling problems reduce precision, including “fresh water” where “clean drinking water” would be clearer, “quality life,” “natrual,” and “availbility.” Some combinations are awkward, such as “water intake per day to every human.” Build accuracy in common collocations and proofread spelling carefully. A more precise range of expressions for affordability, access, and public provision would help you explain the argument with greater flexibility.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple statements and some longer structures, including the sentence beginning “By ensuring that all citizens have free access…” and the clause “as it is a fundamental human need.” The overall meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors are noticeable. For example, “because good quality water one of the most necessary resource” is missing a verb and has an agreement problem; “there has water and food crisis” also has an incorrect construction and article use. Capitalisation after “So” and “Firstly” is inconsistent, and the opening sentence joins ideas awkwardly. Review sentence boundaries, articles, subject–verb agreement, and complete clause structure, then check punctuation and capitalisation during editing.
