Student answer (Band 5.5)
Every home should have access to a clean water supply free of cost as it is a basic human right. I agree with this statement as it is extremely necessary to get a clean water supply as a majority of household work depends on it.
Clean water is used in household for drinking puropses, for cleaning clothes, washing dishes etc and it is a basic right of evey individual to get it free of cost. The government of the respective country should provide water supply 24/7, free of charge in every household. These basic amenities like clean air, drinking water etc are esential for existance and these amenities should not be charged.
Water is crucial for human existance as life cannot exist without it. The government looks after these basic amenities and every area has a municipal corporation looking after it. In many cities of India, there is shortage of water so there is no supply of clean water in households. Many people have to pay for water tankers and water bottles for clean water. We should make sure to conserve water and not misuse it as it is in a limited quantity on the planet.
There are multipe methods that are used for conserving water as drinking water is extremely valuable. We should not misuse water consumption as due to the increasing population there is a shortage of clean water.
In conclusion, we should make sure to conserve water and use it wisely so that there is no wastage of water and every household gets clean water.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear from the opening: you agree that households should receive clean water free of charge, and you give relevant reasons, including its importance for daily tasks and human survival. The example of water shortages in Indian cities and the cost of tankers and bottled water also helps connect the issue to real circumstances. However, the response only partly develops the central argument. It does not explain how a free supply could be funded or managed, nor does it consider possible objections such as conservation or excessive use. Several points about water’s importance are repeated rather than extended with specific explanation or evidence. Develop two or three reasons more fully and link each directly to why household water should be free.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, supporting paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas are generally relevant to the topic. The progression from household uses to water scarcity and conservation is understandable. However, the overall argument does not develop in a fully clear sequence: the paragraph beginning “There are multiple methods” introduces conservation but does not identify or explain those methods, and it repeats the shortage point from the previous paragraph. Linking phrases such as “as” and “In conclusion” are used, but connections between claims are sometimes mechanical or unclear. Organise each body paragraph around one distinct reason, explain it, and use clear references to show how examples support your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “basic amenities,” “municipal corporation,” “shortage,” and “conserve.” These terms show an attempt to discuss public services and water management, rather than relying only on very basic language. However, the range is limited and several expressions are repetitive or imprecise, particularly repeated references to “clean water,” “free of cost,” and “misuse water.” Spelling errors such as “puropses,” “evey,” “esential,” “existance,” and “multipe” are noticeable and reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise collocations and vary repeated wording; for example, describe “household water use” or “a reliable supply,” and check spelling carefully during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You communicate your main meaning using mostly straightforward sentence patterns, and you attempt some longer structures, such as “I agree with this statement as…” and “so that there is no wastage of water.” The basic message remains understandable. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors in articles, agreement and sentence construction occur. For example, “used in household” needs an article or plural form, while “these basic amenities … is essential” would require agreement between the subject and verb. The sentence “We should not misuse water consumption” also has an unclear grammatical relationship between the verb and its object. Practise combining ideas accurately and check articles, singular/plural forms and subject–verb agreement.
